Mazzy and Valygar bug

Discussion in 'BG2: Throne of Bhaal (Classic)' started by Bert Huggins, Dec 30, 2001.

[IMG] The bug is that while in the underdark Valgar got dominated by a Beholder. He of course turned on the party. The thing is Mazzy also went red and dropped from the party and began attacking. After the spell on Valgar wore off he also dropped from the party and continued to attack. I know that Mazzy was not dominated as this happened on two other attempts at the Beholders dungeon.
Is this a result of their "relationship", of which I only saw one conversation, or is this a glitch? Also has anyone else seen this? I have no third party fixes beyond the spirit animal fix that I got from this site. Thanks in advance.

I've had this happen a number of times, that NPCs would still hit your own after domination or whatever wears off. Heck, if you hit your own stunned character, he'll turn at you as soon as stun wears off. It's just an AI thing. Select that NPC and point him somewhere else on the map, or just make them do something else and they'll stop attacking.

Thats the thing though Mazzy drops from the party. I mean her portrait disappears from the party line up and Valgar does the same thing the second that the domination wears off of him. Then I wind up with as much control over them as I would have over any monster I encounter. It's not that they attack me its that they leave the party completly and attack.

[IMG] Oh, that's something else entirely... And I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to happen. Do you have the patch installed?

just ctrl+q them back into your party

[IMG] Yes I do have the patch installed. I also considered the control q option but I thought that that would wreck their npc conversations. I have found a way around it though I just fought through the beholder dungeon without them. I just wonder if this problem will show up again.

The Baldurdash site (http://members.home.net/mrkevvy) has a fix to this problem, which occurs when both Mazzy and Valygar leave your party if one of them is charmed/dominated after Mazzy has adopted Valygar as her squire.
