Well, first of all, welcome to the boards! Secondly, the mandrake root is in the room with the Ancient Wyrm, but it won't be accessible until you learn the location from Mandal's spirit by bringing him his sword.

If you patched the game, then you missed it. Just go on with the game. It's not a mandatory quest.

There are some threads on it on this board. But all end with "reload from the beginning of Dragons Eye", or create the item by the cheat console.

Hojo Jojo - isn't it mandatory ? How can you then lower the bridge ? Without entering the room with the lever - the one guarded by "The Eye". IIRC you must drink the modified histachi brew to become "histachi" - then you can enter the room and pull the lever.

You can make a regular Hiistachi brew and have someone drink that. After pulling the switch, dispel the effect. The catch is that you'll permanently lose 1 int in the process.

What do you mean not covered in walkthrough? i am so sad to hear that.

i have the same problem. It is a known bug. Of course you need the modified mandrake root to complete the quest and proceed with the game. The Yuan-Ti Scholar, Nheero (i think), would not drink anything less than Sabotaged Histachii Brew which is made from Modified Mandrake Root.

If you don't want to start all over, you can enable the cheat console and create the item yourself. There is an item list faq written by D.Simpson here in Sorcerer.net. It also covers how to create item.

Don't worry about using the cheat console. i am sure ejsmith can come out with all sort of ... articulation of using cheat console.

You also have to keep going back to Nheero(?) the scholar. I wasted an hour (real time) trying to make the brew before I realized that I had to check in each step of the way. Adding the Weidu {sp?) mods can also mess up things. Not this maybe but other things. Don't get me wrong: I love the mods.

After spending hours of extremely boring gameplay waiting at the alchemist lab for the alchemist I thought was supposed to return I got so sick of that part of the game that I simply haked to chapter 6 and the fields of slaughter!

Okay ... I've finished the game a couple of times now and didn't have problems with the Dragon's eye ... on my run through with a jukka style melee party I've saved Mandal and the modified root failed to appear. I tried to cheat it in, but the game said the item didn't exist. I double checked to make sure I was asking for the correct item, and as far as I can tell, I was. Any ideas?

DK the blasted potions in directly. To hell with the entire stupidity of pulling a lever and watching desks glow.

You will need 4 potions made from wyvern claws and 2 of modified Mandrake potion. Using DK you won't have to worry about item codes.
