Making the brew in Dragon's Eye - help needed

    Hi!
    I'm stuck in Dragons Eye when I have to make the brew. I have the modified Mandrake Root, placed it on the right table, and when I try to pull the lever it says: "This worn lever emits a strong odor made by chemicals an alchemist might use. Acid has fused some of its gears together, but it looks as if someone has been restoring it".
    I have never met the Alchemist that is suposed to wander around here in the area.
    Please help me out here!

    Remember that you have to keep going back to the scholar on level one. The 2nd time I played I thought I knew it all and spent about 2 hrs. real time trying to make brew before I remembered I had to go talk to the scholar-forgot his name.
