Excuse the horrible title name, but it was the best I could come up with. I'm hoping someone can help or has some ideas.

I recently bought a really cool scanner (Tal should get the credit from Newegg) and I have been scanning all of mine and my side client's documents. I have created a folder which is storing everything quite efficiently. Now I'm concerned about something going wrong and losing everything. This machine has two seperate hard drives in it, but they are not hooked up in any type of RAID, they are just two drives. What I'm trying to figure out is if there is a way to automatically have the contents of this one folder (and subfolders) be copied to a mirror on the other hard drive. I'm currently just using copy and paste, but I'm concerned about when laziness sets in. I'm running Windows XP if that helps or hurts the situation.

Just click on Help and Support from the start menu and type in "backup" in the search window. XP has a backup tool that can be scheduled.

My favorite backup program is SyncBackSE. You setup the profile, and then you schedule it to automatically run your backup. The program is $30, but you can use the free trial...

I actually experimented with Norton Ghost about a week ago...which is the *ultimate* backup program...but it kept crashing every single time I tried to run the backup...so I got a refund and went back to SyncBack. :D

I can recommend SyncBack as well - I'm using the free version because it's got 95% of the functionality I need, so I didn't even bother to get the paid version yet.

All I can say is DO BACKUP.

My C Drive got mysteriously corrupted last week. The hardware was OK but Windows went all nutty and now nobody can find any of the data on the drive. It's a complete nightmare, even though I backed up, the last backup was 3 months ago and it's amazing how much stuff can happen in 3 months (like all our Christmas photos for example).

So Backup Backup and Backup again.

I synchronise to an external drive, but the trick is still remembering to do it.

    Backup!!!!
