Make Leisure Suit Larry come again!

If this was for Space Quest, I would need to cancel my credit card before I max it out. I was a bit too young to appreciate the Leisure Suit Larry games when they were out but I know my Dad definitely did. If this this does get finished I'll probably give it a try, though.

 

I liked the games except for the last one, Magna Cum Laude, which was just a series of lame mini-games. The first ones were cool, although I was far too young to understand all the jokes and didn't have the remotest idea what to do, at first.

This is why i think, that it would be even sweeter to have a LSL game now.

 

I remember you had to answer about 5 questions to prove you were 18. But many questions didn't make sense for us. A cultural/regional thingy. And with no wiki or google around, we were just glad we had a huge list of Q&A.

 

Just incase someone is interested: King`s Quest 1-3, Space Quest 2, and Quest for Glory 2, have all been remade in the last few years. They are available for free online. The downloads are about 600 megabytes each, so the games are vastly improved. i highly reccomend all of them.

I played the free Kings Quest ones not long ago - at least a couple of them. I never tried the original Space Quest, I think I'll have to check it out.

Space Quest was one of those mind-bending games way back.

 

I had a short chat with Al Lowe on facebook recently, and he told me the goal was to remake the whole series AND make Larry 4. That one was never made, as some might know.

 

I am not sure. I have only finished the first one and number 6. Never even played 2,3,5 and 7. I did get that collectors DVD that came out a few years ago, but number 7 wasn`t included . For nostalgic reasons, i hope they remake the whole series, and other series too. As long as I get to buy a physical copy of the game.

 

Hasn't #1 been made 3 times? I heard that #1 was essentially a graphical remake of Softporn Adventure (but I couldn't confirm it since I could never get the copy on asimov to work. I admit I was a teenager in the mid 1990s and was curious because of the "porn" in softporn adventure), and I know from one of the catalogs that they made a VGA version of LSL1 in addition to the AGI version.

So this would be the 4th incarnation of LSL1.

 

That's what I thought. Even if it was the third, I'd still prefer they remake the other games in the series first, at least LSL II-IV.
They can include the VGA and AGI versions of LSL1 and the original LSL2 as a bonus.

I do have a comment some people might find funny related to LSL1. My mother actually bought me that game for Christmas when I was 13, but she had NO idea what it was. She thought she was buying me a Sierra 3D animated adventure like King's Quest or Space Quest and didn't look at the back of the box.
This was at the very end of the Apple II era, and the software store was having a close-out on Apple II games to get rid of them. I believe she got Police Quest and Manhunter:New York at the same time, but held onto one of them until my birthday in February.

Imagine her surprise when she found out just what the game was about and that she had given it to her son who just started puberty. Yes, she had quite a dilemma since she didn't want to take back a gift.
