[IMG] In the chapter six solution that has just been finished, the author mentions a robe or cloak (not sure which) that bestows permanent magic resistance. Does anyone know what this is and where it can be found?

It's not perm, it's a bugged item. Unfortuantly I don't recall what item it was as I no longer had it. All I remember is it was for a Mage only, gave 5-15% MR when worn. When I took it off and tried another cloak, the other cloak was crap so I put the one that gave MR back on. When I checked my character sometime down the road, his MR was not longer 5-15% but around 45%. I then removed it and put it on again and it was added to the 45%.

I went back to my game to look but nothing. I'll check the stores I sold the items to and maybe I'll come across it.

Well, what's really happening here is not so clear. Yes, the character record sheet reports an accumulation of magic resistance. But that doesn't mean you really have it.

There's the old bug with some +2 THAC0 item, which likewise seemed to give an additional THAC0 bonus everytime you put it on. But in fact it didn't do that. It was just a reporting error. The THAC0 used in combat was correct, in spite of what the record sheet said.

The robe might well be the same. If it can happen with one item it can happen with others.

Oh no. I had it. I went 1 on 1 with Malavon with my mage and none of his magics effected me because of my magic resistance.

Alright, I just went back to my game and checked out Kuldahar for the Robe I sold.

It is the Shadowed Robe that will give you MR cumulative everytime you put it on and take it off.

    AC:4
    +15% Magical Resistance
    Only usable by:
    Mage (single, dual, & multi-class)

My mage has 127% MR because of this robe and its bugged properties. I have not updated to any patches and am running the original version that was shipped to the stores.

My mage also has 40% electricity resistance, and 70% for both fire and cold resistance.

    Too hyped.

He's wearing a cloak called "Mantle of the Coming Storm" that gives me +30% Cold/Fire resistance and +1 to paralyzation saving throws.

His robe that he's wearing now, after using the robe to boost his MR is The Robe of the Hand, which gives me +40 Cold, Fire and Electrical Resistance.

He's wearing a Ring of Free action so hold spells and others that reduce movement do not work.

On his other hand, a Ring of Wizardy that doubles both 1st and 2nd level spells.

Amulet to detect traps for when he's travelling alone or scouting ahead.

    Bracers of Defense

And wields a mage dagger that gives +1 to first level spells.

So there you have it. The only mage in my party.

Shadowed. Invisibility would be way too powerful.
