Hey I'm playing as a elven mage/thief and I'm not sure what stronghold to take. I've completed the mage stronghold before and I found it was pretty rewarding. I have done some of the thief stronghold and I think I had a bug with mine because no matter how much I paid to get my Guild back it kept on saying that I owe my dues. So which do you guys prefer?

Just one more question. Which do you guys prefer for roleplaying pursposes, elven chain or robe of vecna? And who would you take as your fulltime mage? Edwin? Nalia? Imoen?

I don't care for either of those strongholds but I like the planer sphere more than the thieves' guild. Having to run back every 5 days (or however long it is) just to pay your dues gets tedious and if you're late with your dues, you lose the guild completely. The gold that the guild generates isn't all that much to begin with. Of course the potions you can get from the planer sphere aren't all that special, but at least you can sell those.

Robe of Vecna is the only way to go with any type of mage, especially since you cannot cast spells if you wear chainmail, etc.

Not quite sure what you mean by "full-time" mage but Nalia has always been my mage of choice, short of myself naturally. :D

Well, you could actually get both if you do the Nalia's Stronghold second, but this is a bug.

I'd rather have the fighter stronghold than the thief one. Thief one is too tedious, and there's a good chance you'll lose it later on in the game.

    Huh? Yeah, oops.

Okay, in that case, I'd forget about the thief stronghold and do the mage one. It's a lot better, and you get some pretty useful items.

Edwin for the full time mage and do the mage stronghold, the thief one is very tedious!
