Literary Influences in Dragon Age

    A thread for what you perceive to be literary influences in Dragon Age.

    Sure, there's the obvious Lord of the Rings fight the grand evil resemblance.

    But when I sat down and thought of it ... I'm convinced some of the guys at Bioware must have read some of the Chaos Comics in the late 90s and early 2000s.

    For example, Blood Magic in Dragon Age bears quite a resemblance to the use of Blood Alchemy by Purgatori.

    I also can't help but notice a certain resemblance between Leliana and Chastity Marks. Even the falling out between Chastity and the Countess, her former mentor, seems to inspire the background story of Leliana.

    I believe there are references to a few things in the village controlled by the dragon cult. I remember reading a bunch of stuff in the graveyard including a reference to Gary Gygax (author and one of the creators of D&D).

    I belive the developers said that the main influence behind DA was A song of ice and fire (by George Martin). The wardens were based on the nightswatch. Forbidden Blood-magic, dragons said to be extinct. Skinchangers\shapeshifters. The list goes on.
