[IMG] I'm about 50% of the way finished with SOU and I've decided I'm not that thrilled with my character. Next up is HotU and I'm thinking about either bringing back my OC character or starting fresh.

I'm curious what level character HotU was designed for (both starting and ending) if anybody knows/remembers.

[IMG] HotU was designed for characters level 15 and up. If your character's not level 15 when you start HotU, it'll be levelled up to that automatically. When you end up with is of course totally dependent on what level you enter HotU with and of the things you do in HotU.

Am I correct in assuming that you get to assign all 15 levels, skills, feets, and stats?

Actually, I think you get levelled up to 15 only if you are below 12 to start with. Going from SoU, I started with lev 13 and it did not complain.

And I would say lev 15 is too high, too. There are hardly any decent enemies in the beginning :)

khaavern is correct. You only get leveled up to 15 if you're below 12.

You get both options, either you choose to level up automatically or you make your own decisions. By the way it is very useful even if you haven't played it yet just to test a build up to level 15 and check if your stats, race, classes and feats match your ideas and your wishes. :)

[IMG] I am interested in knowing what is the maximum level you can achieve in HotU. I have finished more than half of chapter 2, and my character is only level 24. If this continues, I guess he will be only about level 30 or so by the end of the game.

I think you should be able to make it as high as level 30 in Hordes of the Underdark.

I have seen quite a few posts stating that they are playing with a level 40 character. Did they start with a higher level character?

Probably. I never even reached level 30 with my character.

Well, 15 does appear too high but this may be due to the fact that the PC is construed as a potent hero.

Anyone who is playing with a level 40 character did not level them up normally in the game and is just being silly by having a superhuman character.

Too bad :( I was thinking that possibly by middle of chapter 3, I would hit the maximum level with loads of feats....

Alas, no. Well, I was about to say that they would have done better if they had set the level cap at something achievable shortly before the final battle if you have done all quests, but then there are modules.

I think the point of setting the level cap so far above what you could reach in the main single player modules was to encourage people to play and design modules and engage in online gaming.
