Simple answer: Priest spell- negative plane protection.

(Hmmm... or is that only against energy drains...)

It does protect against level drain as well... (The duration is rather short, though)

Barbarian Rage also helps, but I guess you're not a Barbarian ;) They both last for 5 rounds, so you'll have to be quick.
There's also an item wich you will get from someone (Don't want to give any spoilers) wich protects you from level drain, although your fighters can't use it, but JAheira and Anomen can.

  5. And the Boon of L. works, too.

Also useful though not spells: Mace of disruption +2 (boosted with with illithium by Cromwell) gives protection from level drain, just like the amulet of power shadowmaster Aran Linvail gives to you.

[IMG] Memorize a few restorations or buy some scrolls. This game is HEAVY on level drainers.

[IMG] Good one Toast! LOL! That works on soooo many levels! :D

The undead have always given me the creeps when playing D&D!

  10. Speaking of scrolls, I killed that Bodhi b**** over the weekend. But I ran into a bug that soured the experience. ;(

I spent an hour hacking her, she won't die, reloading, doing it again, blah blah until I researched this fine forum and found out that the scroll of protection from undead is buggy in conversation-critical situations. It makes the undead person not be able to talk to you, and if it can't finish it's dialog, it won't die. It won't disintergrate, fail vs. death, or just bleed dry. It stands there and eventually lowers everyone (Bohdi lowers you by about 5 levels when she hits you!) to the level of a field mouse.

SO, be careful with that scroll. :(

I beat Bohdi by running my main character in with high (-10) ac, protection spells galore, and let him smack folks around with the mace of disruption and flail. The vamps surround him. Heh-heh. Then Imoen came in from behind with Daystar. Sunfire! Then more holy stuff from Ariel. Everyone else hid in the hall and stayed away from the level-draining fiends.

I agree that vamps are very worrisome, especially at level 10 and under, especially when you don't have at least one character that can go toe-to-teeth with them. That first ambush of three vamps in the bridge district was devastating. It's the fights you aren't ready for that are the worst.

What about that B**** Tanova?! The first couple of times I wasn't able to beat her. I eventually beat her in the vamplair, but I had to search the whole city for a breach spell! Because Tanove is immune to normal weapons and casts immunity to magical weapons and immunity to electricity and she casts simulacrum and and and.....!!!!!!!
She was the toughest of them all I think!
Even Bodhi wasn't so hard to beat (With crom fayer and daystar :D)
