I may be the only one here who feels like this, but I read the story of the child Pharoah's unveiling and my blood boiled.

Now I can appreciate the desire to learn about ancient civilisations. People are curious and that curiosity drives us, but what I'm angry abut it the complete disrespect and disregard of the religious beliefs of the pharoah and the people of his time.

The act of mummification was a key religious act that allowed the deceased to move on to the afterlife and stay intact therein. The internal organs are removed and placed into urns that hold them suspended in embalming fluid, all of these things are precise and supremely important to the Egyptians.

So, all fine and dandy for a few thousand years in sleep eternal and undisturbed, protected by the rumour of curses and their stone tombs, the pyramids. Then all of a sudden, the arrogant modern man decides that these religious beliefs are now completely defunct, and nowhere near as important as something so supremely pressing as our curiosity, and not only undoes this sacred ritual, but on live television! It's like those arrogant b******s were saying "We don't care about ancient religions and look! You can all see it too!" Tell me, what exactly did we learn from exposing the child's face once more? What purpose did it serve except to gratify some f***ing poncy historian?

I know everyone's very likely gonna go "STFU n00b!" but this really struck a nerve and got me riled. What do you guys think?

IMO, the violation ship sailed 85 years ago. Now that it's over and done with, why not attempt to preserve the mummy as best you can and keep the tomb open to the public?

I'm just waiting for the race war to break out. It seems to be the pastime of both the Museum of Cairo and Africanists to label the race of these mummies and the two sides never seem to agree on the race...
