[IMG] This is something that I haven't been able to fix. I have a laptop that some idiot (me) spilled an iced mac mocha on. It still works fine after I gave it a thorough cleaning, but for one problem--in BOTH Baldur's Gates, the button for F1 is repeatedly hit. Going to the map for a second then switching to the main game interface provides me with about 10 seconds of normal play, but then the repeat goes and all I can do is guard in BG and talk in BG2.

This problem began immediately after the spill. I've tried uninstalling the keyboard driver and using an external one, but the driver automatically reinstalls itself, and the problem persists.

Not a big issue except for making BG half as fast and fun as usual...so I REALLY need help!

Does the keybord "hit" F1 when you aren't running BG?

No! That's what I don't understand! It did at first, popping up endless help screens, but it fixed itself.
Now just the BGs have the problem, even with another keyboard in use instead of the built-in one.

I had this problem, but it fixed itself from a re-start of the game. Quit the game and restart it, try a reboot, and maybe even a re-install. Or, something that occasionally works with key repeats, hit the key yourself. Seeing a real key press sometimes makes the game aware that the others it's been reading are false.

Thanks felinoid, but i've tried all of these except, ironically, hitting the key! I'll give it a shot later when I have time for playing.

I think that the reason that the problem wasn't solved by a re-instll was because the .ini files are left in your folder. This "bug" should be because of a faulty string in any of the .ini files in the game folder.

If nothing else works you can always remap the keys so that F1 is "inactive".

I'm not exactly sure how to do that, Stardust. I've tried altering the Hot Keys, but many keys, including F1, are fixed and appear to be unalterable. If I'm looking in the wrong place, please enlighten me!
