    Tried playing an evil party.

I just can't do it. When Viconia started talking about tonguing the merchant dude, it all became so obvious that this game is like some sort of pubescent male fantasy. Combat and high adventure. Add porno-sex and childish vindictiveness to the equation and it's a little too obvious for me to stomach.

So I made a bard and my new party will consist of myself (named Inigo after the swordmaster from The Princess Bride), Mazzy (my favorite fighter), Nalia, Aerie, Yoshimo (my favorite character...why does he have to leave?!?) and I am undecided as to the sixth.

Nope, I've never been able to follow the evil path either, and I've played BG2 more than a few times. I know it's only a game, but BG2 is very immersive, and committing evil acts, even in a fantasy environment, leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Also, association with Viconia leaves me feeling slightly soiled - she really is a deeply unpleasant person.

However, that guy in the Copper Coronet is there for laughs. Talk to him with Nalia or Jaheira. Better still, Edwina.

BTW, if you're playing a good guy, take Keldorn - there's none better. Also, you appear to be lacking in the muscle department. Where's Minsc? Even with Boo, he can't be expected to look after himself.

Heh. The weakness of youth these days. Regarding that part of Viconia's romance, you find out later that... (spoiler)

She was lying. She merely wanted to make sure Charname knew exactly what kind of people the Drow were: evil, perverse and vengeful. That was a rather emotionally needy move, but I can see what she's trying to do. Viconia's not the mere adolescent sex-toy you think she is. She's a scarred woman not willing to trust someone until she is sure that she can.

As for evil, there are evil ways to accomplish quests, you know? Poisoning the Druid Grove, killing the man whose daughter had been kidnapped by Firkraag for a reward and then double-crossing and killing the big red himself. Finishing these quests give me a warm sense of accomplishment.

Doing the Radiant Heart quest and then truly handing over the artifact to the fallen paladins was rather weak though. I had to kill both sides in the end.

But in BG2, as an evil PC you basically fight against 'eviler' enemies. There's satisfaction in that.

Finally, the contest between two diabolical wills in the end with Irenicus and (spoiler)

Melissan was simply that much more epic IMO. Here we decide who will be the new lord of evil, not a whiny, wimpy "OMG you did teh evil!!!11 I must kick your @ss!!11 juvenile story.

Evil's not for the weak of heart, folks. Those not made of such stern stuff can stick to your paladins, fluffy mammals and Aerie.

Me? The Throne of Bhaal is mine! And Viconia, Sarevok, Korgan, and Edwin are going to help me get it!

I can't play evil either, for the same reason as previously stated. I can play neutral no problem (mainly because I can usually find an excuse to take the good path), but evil just isn't my style. Guess I'm just a goody-two-shoes. :)

I'm gonna give it a try, though I admit it is a tough one to try. It just feels so unnatural and wrong for me to play evil. And it's just a game! Just created a neutral evil Death Night (kit mod found here at SP) using the Blackguard portrait from NWN:SoU. Also created a female lawful evil Monk, and picked up Vicky, Jan, Korgan and Yoshimo immediately. I'll do the Maevar quest first to get Edwin, but so far I'm sitting in the Copper Coronet and haven't gone much farther (playing through Watcher's Keep right now and kicking ass).

Somehow I don't think I'll get very far, though at least my party LOOKS cool. :(

I played an evil solo sorceress and quit when I got to spellhold. I always end up doing goody goody stuff like freeing slaves or telling that halfling where to shove his poison in Trademeet.

I'm running an evil party through the game now and I'm about to start the unseeing eye quest with my PC Nuetral Evil fighter/assassin multi, Viconia, Korgan and Edwin. I'm thinking about taking Imoen and will definatly take Sarevok

I too, am compelled to play good, it comes naturally to me and doing otherwise just feels wrong, allthough I like to spend some time doing such things for the humour it causes, I ususally reload afterwards so I can role-play through the situation.

This goes as far as returning to the Copper Corronet whenever I dump a character who stays put, becasue I can't deal with leaving them in the middle of the wilderness.

@ Late-Night Thinker, I would reccommend either Minsc or Jaheira for that sixth slot, to add fighting abilities and druidspells/healing to your party. Most likely Jaheira would be the most beneficial, but you may also want to choose one with more interactions for those specific NPC's.

Hey I just thought of something. If you take Jaheira, and then Imoen when Yoshimo leaves, You'll be in a party with 5 chicks. Nice to have some companionship on the road ey? *wink wink, nudge nudge*

This is a little :yot: but I remember once when I played Divine Divinity some street urchin came up to me begging for change. Being the charitable adventurer that I was I gave him the maximum amount possible (it was like 10 gold pieces or something), upon which he called all his friends and said he'd found a sucker that paid up, so I was immediately surrounded by hundreds of kids who kept starting conversation asking for cash and following me around everywhere I went.

Needless to say I slaughtered them all, all those small bodies, it was a bloodbath.

I then reloaded and gave the kid an apple instead. Yeah ok, I guess I'm just a big softy.

[IMG] I don't want to do evil either (guess you might be able to tell by my moniker)....like Chris said, the game is very immersive, and I find myself tryna do the right thing, and satisfy my consience (spell?) and not give in to my temptations.

I have fun in this game being a paladin! I like doing Detect Evil, because it can prepare me for what I should expect. It prepares me to use my Holy Smites, or Fireballs, or if the evil folk are magic resistant, just sick Minsc and Boo on them with me!

Doing evil is kind of like a real life temptation for me....you know that if you do it, you might have a little good feeling for awhile, but after that, you might feel really guilty, or if you don't, karma (like a delayed gease) coming back to you could be understandably expected.

[IMG] playing Evil is easy, I find, however I also find it easy to play Good and Neutral as well.

If you think the Viconia romance is perverted and made for the little geeks who can only dream on, then simply don't do the romance. True, the romance does take a strange twist a couple of times, but each romance has something that you have to be determined to see through, Aeries' whining, Jaheiras' mourning, Anomens' knighthood and Viconia trying to scare you off.

I'd suggest Minsc for your party or Valygar. For party interactions and backup fighter skills

I always play through as good. The main reason for this is the discounts one gets from a reputation of 20  and the fact that if you let yourself become too depraved you are attacked by hordes of do-gooders everywhere you go. Personally i like playing eveil, and love the evil NPC's but good is less hassle(think not being able to do certain quests as you have killed everyone in Athkatla and a large portion of the Radiant Heart/Cowled Enforcers).

[IMG] Im thinking of playing evil as well, but hey, gotta admit, I cant do it 100% without any consience problems, even though it is a bloody game :D

I've tried couple of times to play like an assasin etc. :) but the worst parts were in the underdark when I had to listen to my own inner voice and save the poor Duergar from slaughter

But I gotta admit, If my first sorcerers aligment wouldn't had been Chaotic Good, I'd been a vengeful bastard who doesn't give a damn and revenges everything he can, especially I had a foul taste in my mouth when I wasn't able to kill Saemon, since he's a bastard  .
Next game I'm gonna start, I shall shove him 6 gt underground if it's possible, and gonna play as an arrogant guy like "Haven't I heard that before, *yawn* time for you to die!" :D
Revenge SHALL be mine, and so shall be The Throne of Bhaal! :D

You want to kill Saemon? Your opportunity comes when the Githyanki attack his ship. Ignore the Gith and sic your whole party on Haevarian. You can take him down before the Sahuagin arrive and he's worth 18000 XP, which is nice. It's a valid action for parties of any alignment, I reckon.

For some reason I end up having a rep of 17 every time I play -keeping it below 18 just to keep Viconia happy (although I hack her align a bit, usually ;) ). In most cases, doing the "evil" path is rather unnecessary, so I end up being the goody-two-shoes most of time :shake:

Oh, he appears regardless. Like Tazok and a few other notables, he's one of those people that just won't stay dead. I killed Tazok twice in BG1 and yet he still came back for more.

I have not try playing as a evil char, but will try out soon. Reason: to be-able to wield Blackrazor.
A "fallen" kensai will be the choice for me(good to evil). He will go for the best benefits or rewards. So if the evil choice is more rewarding, he will go for it. For example, some of the hell-judgement's evil rewards are more suitable for warrior than the good ones. So what can I say about myself? I am greedy!

    Chaotic evil Wild mage.

Talk about jumping in at the deep end for my first really evil character.
Nah, I'm not good at playing evil, all my other character have been chaotic good, or neutral.

IMO, much of the beauty of the game is that you can play any way that fits your mood. The pendulum swings quite far in both directions.

I usually play evil but find myself doing good things from time to time. And making Vikky and Korgan cross with me. Even in pencil and paper I play evil. Why? I ask myself. After I take my monk through the game I will likely play totally good. And take NPC's with me that I usually don't like. Again, the beauty of the game.

Man Blackrazor is one *dope* sword! If I had decided to be something other than a paladin (I'd still be good aligned, just only paladins can use Carsomyr), I would have mos' def' taken that sword!

I don't think an evil alignment is required to wield Blackrazor, is it? I mean, my PC is Lawful Good (though more Chaotic Good at heart, 'cuz I look at him as a more intelligent version of Minsc) and he has no problems wearing Ring of Gaxx.

Is an evil alignment required to wield Blackrazor?

I think maybe you're confusing the Bioware romances with the Imoen romance mod or the Flirt Pack. ;)
