My favorite character from Michael Moorcock's eternal champion series is Jhary-a-Colonel, companion to the champions. Plus, his winged cat of course.

If anyone has read these books, what class do you think Jhary would be? I think either a Blade or a Swashbuckler. Definitely human (or halfelf). As to alignment, he is probably neutral to neutral good. Although he'd need to be CN to get the cat familiar.

He'd be more the neutral good alignment I think, as i've seen him as having elements of both Law and Chaos in him. A pity that knackers the familiar as Whiskers is cool I want one! :D
Off the top of my head I can't remember the advantages and disadvantages of each kit, but bear in mind he does have someuseful magics and rogue type skills in the stories if a kit penalises that you might want to avoid it.
Oh and the most important part, remember his hat, it's the only oe that goes with these clothes ;) .

Was it dual scimitars that he wielded? I can't remember. As you say, he was very foppish, so a Blade may well suit him best. Plus, he was a storehouse of knowledge which also suits the bard class very well.

I'm scimitars was Moonglum I think, Jhary's weapon was a longsword iirc. I'll be starting to read the Corum books again soon so I'll let you know.

You could be right. It is a long-time since I read the Corum books. Moonglum did dual-wield, not sure if it was scimitars or not?

Another great companion was Philander Groot from the Von Bek books.

Jhary was easily the best of the companions though, plus he was the only companion that actually new what he was and what was going on.

I think Corum was my favorite hero by far, followed by von bek. Then obviously Elric and Erekose. I hated Hawkmoon. and not forgetting Oswold Bastable.

I also really liked Jherek Carnelian as well. He was very much a dandy. Almost like he made Jhary-a-colonel a hero in a series of books.
