    I've seen various allusions and brief remarks here that Jester's song gets better with levels.

    Does anybody know, or can anybody point me in the right direction of a place where I can see a breakdown of what the jester song does at various levels?

    Would a jester's song at a high level be effective against improved monsters from tactics/ascension? When I say "a jester's song" in this context, I mean anyting up to five misleads singing.

    THANKS!

    I don't know if it gets improved or not, but as for now it seems far too weak to be effective, some of the tactics enemies have cheesy save vs spells of 1, anyway. :p Never mind!

    From the patch notes for patch version 26498.

    The Rogue Rebalancing Mod also makes the Jester more powerful:

    Also adds a new HLA specific to the Jester:

    :doh:

    YES, ofcourse, cool mod Rogues Rebalancing! get Song&Silence mod too! These mods make thieves and bards more versatile and fun to play! Bards do get spiffy usable abilities like Mass Charm, Enthralling Melody, Soundburst, Lingering Song, and the Flute ability is greatly enhanced, it can summon a very nasty, tough and dual-wielding berserker! It dual-wields two vorpal axes! Bards lose trap HLAs, and rightfully so, just HOW they are able to learn traps all of a sudden in vanilla game makes no sense. Thieves are trained in detecting and setting traps beforehand afterall.

    I simply LOVE bards after these modifications! Get the two mods!

    I don't mind so much the bards not being able to use traps, I don't use them anyway...but that mod nerfs improved Bard Song for Blades, IIRC...that just sucks!

    Or am I wrong? If Blades get Imp. Bard Song with those mods installed...GO FOR IT!! :D

    Hey does anybody know where I can find that Rogue Rebalancing mod? I heard it referenced to Spellhold Studios but I can't find it on their site.

    THANKS! I'm thinknig of soloing a non-blade bard class w/ the hard mods installed, which I think might be challenging and fun but still doable for somebody like me who isn't the most amazing player of all time! :D

    @nataben: Play a Jester and SING the Five in Ascension to death!! And take screenshots!!

    Seriously though, if you play a Blade...its going to be quite easy, and if you play a non-Blade Bard...well, it won't be as bad as playing a Cleric but...uh...I dunno.

    When you say all the hard mods, does that include Imp. Ilyich, Oversight's Imp. Sendai and the Improved Battles mod?

    R.I.P my friend... :angel:

    I would take a Blade too,since he is a better fighter.
    But even the Jester can become quite powerful,especially if you install those mods.

    And don't forget to read Scythesong's guide ;)

    @Faraaz: Well I have the entire tactics mod installed, but I also have dungeon-be-gone. I'm sorry, I know you guys would like to see an Imp. Ilych vs. a non-blade bard, but I just cannot STAND truging through that dungeon over and over. Sorry :( . I keep trying to install improved sendai from oversight, but it keeps making an error when it installs, so it won't install. I'm unsure of why this happens. As for improved battles, I don't think I've heard of that one. Link?

    @thetruth: I know that a blade would certainly be better, but I want a challenging and original enough character so that I can post updates and stuff here and not have everybody be bored to death!!! It will be sooooo hard but I feel better simply that I'll be able to get a lot of free stuff immediately via pickpocket.

    @raz: Thanks man!!!

    @everybody: What is the general stance with regard to sell-stealing wands? Is that one considered super-cheesy? I'll do it if people don't think it's cheesy but I will NOT do it if they do.

    edit @ silverstar: What is your experience with the rogue rebalancing mod? It seems to me that the berserker you can summon is there for such a short duration (10 rounds) that he might not be very useful. Also, do you use any of the other new bard abilities with much effectiveness in the game?

    It depends on your personal view of ''cheese''...

    For me a bard that uses this tactic is ''justifiable'' from a RP point of view.
    BUT he can't do the sell-stealing trick for many times with the same merchant and furthermore he should not be allowed to visit that merchant again in the future.

    hmm so with this modded jester song I will be doing:

    -10 to my AC for each song sung
    +10 to my Magic Resistance for each song
    Every round, every enemy within 60 ft must be slowed with a save at -4, confused with a save at -2, or stunned with no save penalty.

    That means that with 5 misleads singing I'll have AC of -25, at least 50% MR (easily 100+ with items I think), and my enemies will have to save five times each round or else be slowed or incapacitated. Do you think this is too overpowered?

    @nat: Hehe...give Tactics and Ascension a go...you're going to start thinking you are UNDERPOWERED! :evil:

    I love these mods...they make you get really worked up about beating those encounters! :D

    @nataben1314

    Well... I just test-drived the bard HLAs. They work wonders! The duration of the summon may be pitiful BUT I never noticed it, he is SO powerful, he dual-wields famous +5 vorpal axes from ToB, and thus very, very deadly. It never ran out of duration. I just unleashed this upon Improved Ilych and his co. and Improved Illisera for a test-walk. Ilych&co was slaughtered, easily, they fell to vorpal hits! :eek: It was a sight to see. Imp. Illisera is tricky, but the berserker still managed to kill his henchmen and was relatively good health.

    Why can'T you use new bard HLAs? They are spiffy! I love the Sound Burst! It does 15d6 magic damage, ignores MR, area-effect, possible deafness! This rocks, equevelant of a small ABDHW! Perhaps better as it bypasses MR. I plan to get LOTS of this.

    Other abilities such as Enthrall&Charm looks spiffy too, I think worth a few HLA slots! Though it says 20HD+ monsters are immune. Well, there are better things to do to those bosses, anyway. :p

    Does anyone agree with me?

    Silverstar, you've convinced me! :D

    I'm going to try soloing as a Jester, with the Rogue Rebalancing mod installed.

    Wish me luck as I will NEEEEEEED it!

    Any advice as far as proficiencies? I'm aware of all the good unmodded weapons, but are there any weapons so good in the modded game that it merits getting a proficiency in them?

    Should I post my progress in this thread or something? I will probably need to ask you experts for HELP on these new monsters!!!! :D

    @starwalker

    Sound Burst is not a spell, it is purely a magical-like effect, much like a Dragon's Breath, or Medusa's Gaze, I bet those things can not be blocked by MR. ONLY spells can. Am I right? Thus I really don't think bard's Sound Burst is cheesy!

    @nat: By virtual run, do you mean SK'd?

    He looks okay so far...let us know how you go.

    Also...what are all the mods you have installed for this run?
