ETBGaming Interviews has interviewed BioWare's Community Manager Jay Watamaniuk about his job. Here's a clip:

1)Can you enter and sign in please? What is it a community manager does?

The short form of what I do is act as a liaison between the people who play the games that BioWare produces and the staff of BioWare. I spend a great deal of my time preparing content for the website, responding to emails fro the community, supporting community-initiated events such online conventions and chats. I also get to hang out at the occasional groovy real-world event such as E3 and GenCon in order to promote BioWare and meet community members.

2)Can you tell us about how you got into this position? How do our readers try and follow in your footsteps?

It is a strange a twisty tale to be sure. I got a degree from the University of Alberta in Psychology and Anthropology. I was doing a great deal of live theater at that point and it was a toss-up between staying in town to build a theatre career or head out to Japan. I did end up going to Japan for three years working as an English teacher and then within the ministry of education itself.

Once returning home, I was the PR Coordinator at a youth centre which led me to apply for BioWare once the position became available. I was actually in Toronto applying to a few schools for computer animation and graphic art when I got the call. The whole application process for BioWare took about 3 months and 4 interviews. Yeeks…
