Concerning the 800x600 default resolution, I have an overpriced exceedingly large totally sensational "presentation type" (32")monitor that is neither old nor defectve.

Monitor is not designed to sit on a desk and view in front of - but to be viewed from a distance of about 10+ feet. It is currently approximately 6' away, and really can't be brought any closer

The problem is (for me) the game needs to run in 640x480..this option seems NO longer to be offered (as it was in BG1&2 & IWD1)and Neverwinter which I run without problems.

I filed a tech report request nearly a week ago and have received NO reply.

At 800x600 the game is unplayable. Figures you can barely see (about 1-1/2" high) text about 3mm (reading text is just a wish) renders game 100% unplayable.

I'm wondering if anyone might have an answer - - some help?

    Thanx

I don't truely know, but Ex or Tal will know for sure.

The only thing I bet that you could possibly do is edit the icewind.ini file, manually.

And change the "resolution" variable. So it says "resolution=640". It may very well give you undocumented support.

If that does not work, then I'm guess that you are out of luck. Someone would have to redo all the textures. Or do an "on-the-fly" conversion with a trainer, or something. Which is most definately not going to happen.

You're out of luck. The primary problem with each resolution is that the game interface needs to be built from scratch for each. It wasn't built for 640x480, in fact, the game's designed for 800x600 and up so there wouldn't be enough space to cram all of the needed interface (as it is now) in 640x480.

[IMG] WOWOW!! Thanks for the speedy comment/reply - I suspected I might be SOL - (already tried changing the ini - just reverts to 800 no matter what you enter.

Probably explains the lack of reply from Interplay - but it leaves me out $40.00 good luck getting my money back... sigh

    Thanks again
