    Hi all,
if my understanding is right apart from IWD series, NWN series, TOEE, BG series and a few older games such as pool of radiance there is no chance any more will be made as the software teams have broken up.
Does anyone have any suggestions for other rpgs by differnt makers. There seems to be lots out there but a lot seem to real time as opposed to turn based. I dont have a lot of time to devote to gaming so any pointers would be appreciated.

It depends on how far you want to go back, and exactly what you're looking for. If it has to be a fantasy game then Fallout is out, otherwise it's an excellent choice (though I wouldn't call it exactly an IWD2 variant - it's far less hack and slash than that). If you don't mind going back a decade, the two Dark Sun games are very good (especially the first one). And if you want to go back even more there's always the original Gold Box games!

Also, does it have to be a "create your own party" type of game like IWD? If you don't mind having NPCs imposed on you then there's quite a few other games. Kotor is not a bad game (haven't played the 2nd one so can't comment on that), again assuming you don't mind an SF setting. And if you want a heavily story-oriented game with complex NPCs, stop reading this right now and go buy a copy of Planescape Torment :)

You could also try Lionheart, it's fun and has a lot of hack and slash action with some nice dialogues, voicing and quests... The real drawback is that the ending of the game is not as great as the beginning.
But it's extremely cheap now (I bought a copy for 3 euros).

    Okay, Fallout Tactics then. :p

    I also second Planescape: Torment.

And, while not technically an RPG (it's strategy with RPG elements), the Warlords: Battlecry series is excellent.

Arcanum, it has quite a number of bugs, but is still one of the greatest RPGs around, for the fantastic story, truly unique and creative world design, clasis musics, and the many many ways to build your character and solve problems at hand. (negotiate, cast a spell, fight, steal, murder, use technology, etc. etc. the list goes on and on...) It is a gem in RPG world if you ask me, givin the 'R' aspect of the genre.

Once again, I have to agree. I spent many wonderful months enjoying Arcanum. It has it's bugs and flaws, but the setting alone (imagine a Victorian-era Faerun) makes up for most of it.

I don't have the disk anymore, or I would still play it today.
