[IMG] I've never played IceWind Dale or Torment or any of the others except for the Baldur's Gate series. Just wondering if they continue the story line but just in a different place. Are they worth buying or should I save my cents for the next Baldur's Gate.

IWD is set in a different area of FR, and Planescape torment is completely differnt world and story plot and I think IWD has a diferent story too but I'm not sure but they are worth buying.

Actually, IWD is set in a different time in Faerun, as well as a different place (Ten Towns)- Well before the BG games. Although it's cool how they've bridged the two games in BG2, at least with the collector's cd.

The merchant in the Copper Coronet if you load the bonus cd, has items from some of the NPC's from IWD. So, if you have the bonus cd, and you've played IWD, the added items in BG2 have more of a connection for you.

IWD is worth buying - it's a great, atmospheric game - not quite as intricate (kits, etc.) as BG2 but worlds better than BG1. Planescape is a great game if you find talking and walking more interesting than hunting and fighting. Planescape is one long, endless series of conversations - kind of a bore. An attractive bore.
