The Icewind Dale NPCs mod introduces a cast of five new characters to the great frozen wastes of the Forgotten Realms, with all the depth you would expect from PPG companions. The mod will transform the Icewind Dale experience into the story of a single, player-defined protagonist, and his or her fully-interactive allies(alternate classes are available).

Each character comes with a new, original portrait, interactions with the PC and each other, and quest commentary and interjections. Romance is also in the bitterly cold air...

The mod is fully ready, and has been tested by two people already. The only missing element is voicework.

I just love what you did with IWD2. I have only one question, is Heart of Winter needed? My HoW CD died on me so I only have IWD without the expansion installed right now.

 

Oh, IWD2 NPC Project is Domi's doing, not mine.

But you're welcome to try IWD NPC out - and, no, you don't need the expansion, the mod works without it. Just make sure you've patched the game.

Has anyone tried this mod?

I am thinking of giving this mod a run-thru. I notice the stats for the characters are not super-tweaked, which is nice, should make it more challenging. I think i'm going to start by creating a Half-Elf Fighter/Mage to go with the NPCs. I notice the NPCS don't start with any "unique" items, just some basic gear. Are there any items added to the mod that are character specific?

 

Ok, i finaly got around to trying this mod out. NICE!!!!!!! Just finished off Terikan the lich and will start Wyrm's Tooth area next. There is a TON of dialogue amongst the NPCs. It adds a lot of depth to the RPG aspect of the game, which as everyone knows is the part that was lacking. I particularly like the conversations between my Gnome Fighter/Illusionist and Holvir. Also, being able to tweak the NPCs classes a bit is nice. I went with R/C for Korin, F3/Druid dualed for Nella, Mage/Thief for Teri and Bard for Sevrin. Currently my Gnome has 39% of the kills, as he is my main tanker. He is level F8/I9 and has an AC of -7 with no armour worn. Add in stoneskin, mirror image and buffs and he is a monster. Nella is 2nd with 22%. I really like her character, blows a Jahiera away anyday! And Sevrin is probably the best bard NPC i have come across, with decent stats and a comical edge to his past. Really enjoyable. Thanks for the great mod Kulyok!
