Is there any such thing out there? Im playing a solo, svirfneblin monk right now, and I want to be able to dual it to cleric when I reach level 20, but I also want to be able to reach higher than level 7 with the cleric part.

 

Well, you will be able to reach Level 30 but no further than that.

 

I wish someone would write one.......... actually i wish someone would write a program to convert BG2 mods to work on IWD2

I think Harbourboy's reply was based on that you said that you wanted to get a monk to level 20 and a cleric higher than level 7. That would mean that you wanted to reach levels higher than 27, which is already possible.

But I agree with you, I'd also like to see a xp cap remover.

That is not correct. Every race can obtain character level 30. The only difference is how many experience points it will take to get there. Therefore, your Deep Gnome will make it to character level 30, so you can be a Monk (20) / Cleric (10) if you want.

 

No... I tried, I gave my char (the Svirf) TONS of xp with DaleKeeper, and he only got to 27

Anyway, I wanna reach levels higher than 10 with Cleric, high enough to get 7-8-9 spells

 

That's weird, when I give my deep gnome 528,000xp (instead of 435,000 for a normal race) he is level 30...

 

Menion - correct, that was what I meant. Every ECL character I have played that far has made it to level 30.

Anyway, what's the point of going higher than Level 30? Your character would be so over-powered it would be silly.

I believe that the reason why you can't go higher than Level 30 even with Dalekeeper or other cheats is that the program logic for levels is hard-coded, not stored in any sort of variable that can be easily tampered with.

 

Yeah, once you reach level 30 you can hit everything anyway. Having a ridiculous BAB of +60 won't do any more good if everyone's AC stops at 35.

 

It would certainly not be very balanced, but it might be fun to be uberpowerful sometimes.

Is it? I thought it was just in some 2da file... But you're probably right, because someone would have made one if it were easy.

BTW I don't need a mod that let's me go higher than level 30 in a single class, because that's probably harder. I just want to be able to make a Paladin(30)/Sorcerer(30) (or something).

 

Yeah, same here. I just wanna play cool solo through Insane and HoF and be able to continue leveling through the whole game

 

There is a way to bump the level cap up to 50, but it involves editing the .exe file and only works for certain with the US version. Awhile back someone made a command line patcher but I have no idea where it would be found now.

If you want to do it with a hex editor, here's how:

0x0014389B (max level)
Currently set to '1E', change to '32'.

0x00143895 (comparison level)
Currently set to '1E', change to '32'.

0x00144C71 (xp cap)
Currently set to '80 0E 08 00', change to 'FF FF FF FF'

0x0044EA74 (xp cap)
Currently set to '80 0E 08 00', change to 'FF FF FF FF'

0x001DCD4A (max level)
Currently set to '1E', change to '32'

The level 50 cap seems to be hardcoded elsewhere in the EXE, and I've only found a portion of what controls that. At this point the game will crash if you set the cap higher and level your character beyond 50 total levels.

Also, the appropriate 2DA files will need to be updated to support the higher levels.

I've given this some intense testing and it seems to work perfectly. No problem with ECL races etc. I'd still advise backing up your EXE file before editing it, that's always the best idea.

 

Do you also happen to know if those edited 2da-files can be downloaded somewhere?

 

The command line patcher had the 2DA files packaged with it, but I haven't the foggiest if it's even available for download anymore. Sorry.
