After a Fight on the Battle Square the message "You gained an Item" appears, but I can´t find the items in the inventory...is it a bug or am I just too dumb...

If you've patched the game, all items should appear in the inventory of the character who fought that round. if his/her inventory's full the item is dropped on the ground (and should stay there at least for a while).

    The newest patch is applied...
The only items I gain is a little gold an the key to oria´s room (1st battle), but I get nothing for the later battles

    Edit:
I have to correct myself: I get items, but they are crappy (a gem after the 2nd battle, some arrows +1 after the second). But according to walkthroughs there should be different items (Warded Dragon's Belt, Cornugan Hide Armor, etc.)...

I can't recall the battle square very good (years since my last attempt to beat the game), but aren't the rewards based on "how good" you managed in the fights?

You only get the good stuff when you complete the level, not the individual fights.

And the best items are earned after completing the highest ranks.

So what to you mean with "completing the level"? I thought that I have to kill 3 Monsters at Rank1, 4 at Rank 2, etc. And so it is written in the Walkthroughs. You should also gain a relatively good Item at every Rank you succed. Also the Screen should shake after Rank5 (which doesn´t happen)...

    @Pinkys.Brain
To complete every rank you have to take 3, 4, 5, 6 and then 7 monsters in every rank = 25 monsters/rank. Do that all the way up to rank 10 and then you've conquered the whole battle square (=only 250 fights!)

You get special items after each rank you've completed.

If you win a square you might also get random items, the higher the difficulty is the better the item.
So it might be useful to save and retry the last square battle if you don't get a reward, but it's not neccessary.

You can come back there anytime with a more experienced party until you fly away with Oswald at the end of chapter4 if you want to beat the higher levels without save and reload tactics.

It's worth to beat all levels since you gain money, powerful expensive items and experience.

Absolutely agree with Mudde. There are some damned good items to be won after completing ranks in Battle Squares, particularly after about rank 5, IIRC.

It's just such a bore to have to fight out 250 solo battles to get all that great swag.

You can beat the game easily without doing more than one square battle.
So if you don't like them and are not interested in making the rest of your game easier you don't have to force yourself to fight.

You don't have to do the ranks in order, I believe. So you could consult a spoiler and only do the ones with good items.

Or just get the Wiemur EoU mod and use the "skip battlesquares" sub-mod and get all the swag, without having to actually fight all 250 battles.

I've done the entire thing at least a couple of times. I feel no obligation to do it every time any more, so I do use the Skip Battlesquares EoU submod.

Yes, you can win the game without the stuff you win in the BS. But some of it is very good treasure.

What is the latest point in the game that you can return and do the battle square? Does it have to be done in Chapter 2 only? I wanted to beef my characters up before attempting the higher levels. Now on chapter three, hook horror caves. Have I missed out on the good stuff?
