I wonder if anyone is noticing or if anyone cares? I watch baseball alot. I used to enjoy it more. Now I enjoy it less. Baseball used to keep its records sacred. Now they don't seem to care about them. I think they have nearly ruined baseball with the new baseballs, new stadiums, and new rules. All the big stars are on steroids and most of the others are not very likable. The all-star game ending a in tie just about shows where baseball is headed. All the old announcers are just about gone. The connections to the old game are disappearing. I wish it were not so. Barry "jerk" Bonds is being touted as the "best ever" and I don't think he's fit shine the Babes, Robertos, Jackies, or Teds shoes. I wasn't so upset with baseball until I looked up the homerun stats for baseball. Did you know or care that 23 out of the top 50 homerun seasons has happened in the last 8 years. Does nobody notice that 6 out of the top ten are within the last 4 years and see that it's a bad thing? Baseball is over 100 years old. They are killing it quickly and it saddens me. I know there is no crying in baseball, but they should be crying about whats happening to it.

I hope they can save it before it gets to far, but I'm not very hopeful.Comments anyone?

[IMG] Amen Brother! I hear you! Baseball is definitely going down the tubes. And Barry Bonds? The best ever?!?!? Hardly. He's not even the best playing now. He doesn't even compare to some of the players I remember going up with: Mike Schmidt, Nolan Ryan, Lou Brock, George Brett, Steve Carlton, Pete Rose, Reggie Jackson, Cal Ripken, to name a few.

The tie last night was actually very fitting...Yet another sign that the leadership in baseball is piss poor. I was actually glad that no one was given the Ted Williams All-Star MVP trophy!!! There are few now that even deserve the honor!

I'm tired of whiny players that change teams like they change their shorts, decide they don't want to play in the All-Star game because they're afraid they might break a nail, and complain about how hard their job is! They should thank their lucky stars that they get paid to the play games I played when I was a kid! I'm tired of owners that whine about how they can't afford the high priced players, yet still seem up the ante every off season!

Before the strike in 1994 I probably attended 20 MLB games each year. Since that strike, I haven't seen more than 2 live games a year. If they walk out again, I won't even go to the two. Finally, I am tired of the Yankees and Braves!!! There needs to be some kind of revenue sharing with the smaller market teams or it's just going to get worse!

[IMG] You're both right. Baseball's a dying sport.

But, hey, look on the bright side! Thank God at least ONE sport is dying!

[IMG] It is a joke. I grew up a die hard baseball fan. The last strike (no World Series !?!) made me lose much of my interest. If they do it again, I may stop watching altogether. It is disgusting. Millionares fighting with billionares.
The All-Suck game was a perfect primer to the strike. Most of the big name stars barely played. They then had the audacity to leave the game. By the end of the 5th inning, both dugouts were about half full. And then the tie. Wow. They didn't want to hurt any of the prima donnas feelings so they played everyone as fast as possible and ran out of pitchers. When I was a kid, most All-Star games ended with players sitting on the bench (or in the bullpen) who did not play. But at least the game had a winner. When did the players egos become more important than finishing the game?

[IMG] I have never enjoyed watching baseball (exept for maybe the all-star games and world sieries). However, I do really enjoy playing the game.

I couldn't tell you the name of the left fielder for the Cards, I couldn't tell you the stats of the clean-up for the Mets, but I love the game.

    There are my two cents.

I used to go to ball games a lot, and watch most of the Jays games. I followed the standings religiously, the player stats, and so on. But not since the strike. If I'm given tickets, or invited to a game (Sprite's and my first date was a Jays game), I'll go, but I won't pay for tickets anymore. And I don't remember the last time I watched a game on TV, including any of the penant or the World Series. The only reason I knew the All-Star game was the other night was because I logged onto ESPM.com to check out the NHL free-agent happenings :D

And I think you guys are right about the players. They're just whiners for the most part. They aren't anywhere near as bad as basketball players (ego spelled with a capital "I"), but for the job they have and the money they make, they have absolutely nothing to complain about. I remember going to Jays games, sitting in right field and leaning over the rails to talk with Dave Winfield. Now he was a class-act. Great guy, modest, and always had time for fans. Joe Carter was too. Sadly, you don't see many ball-players like that any more.

For me, baseball has always been a fun little hobby during the spring, but as soon as it comes time for NFL training camps to begin, I could care less about a man standing with a little white ball 60'6" from another man with a club in his hands.
    LONG LIVE THE NFL
Um, sorry...Anyway, back on topic, the downfall of baseball is heaped solely upon the foolish shoulders of Bud Selig. If only MLB had a good commish like Paul Tagliabue...
