    Hi!
Since I'm new, I should first introduce a short hello ^^.

I play bg II, since it came out here, and right now
found out after reinstalling it (unused a few years),
that it's still superior to many modern games!
(And btw i replayed PS:T, what a great game!, but that's another topic ^^).
i got intrigued by the various solo-concepts to play through BG II due to the fact that i allready did roleplay it twice with a normal party.
Especially the attempt to try soloing without even one reload seems to be interesting.
    I found these outdated topics:
    http://www.sorcerers.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=006326;p=1
    http://www.sorcerers.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=10;t=002293
So i will start a new one.

I mostly agree with earlgrey's concept of an 'Ironman'-gamestyle:
    - Only one PC (solo-concept)
    - no reload allowed ("Hardcore"-concept)

My question would be, has anyone accomplished this, without using a sorceror?
For, I'm about to start this with a solo Inquisitor or Cavalier, I'm undecided yet.

To make it all a bit more interesting (as if it wouldn't be hard enough ^^) I would suggest that
resting is only allowed once per ingame-day.
    Would this be suicide?
    Or is it doable?
    Anyone done similar attempts allready?

Personally, I think it would be suicide to do it without reloading, because that would be impossible for me. I have to reload several times per hour and I would throw my computer out the window if I 'd somehow managed to get through several hours of play and then died and had to start all over again.

well, i know that earlgrey did it
    with a sorceress once.
I'm just curious about attempts with other classes.

My first try was a Blade.
She was slain in Ch. 3 by the mage-style vampire.
    Now I'll try a paladin.
(My first ever BG II char was a cavalier ^^).

    edit:
    @Harbourboy
though sudden death is inarguably very frustrating, there is a special thrill to avoid this situation ^^.

To accompish such a thing with a Cavalier would be nearly unbelievable. I'm not saying it would be impossible, but it will take a lot of playing expertise and more than a little luck. While both of your proposed choices seem extremely difficult, I think that being a Cavalier would even be more difficult than an Inquisitor, is you would have no advantage against mages. Yes, Cavaliers get bonuses against dragons and demons, but it's not like those exist in huge numbers in either SoA or ToB. Good luck - that's all I can say.

reminds me of Diablo II Hardcore :D

i gues it would be possibel.. just the main problem is you can also get game over by other effects then dead (seeing as you are solo if you loose control, its game over) i gues i would choose a class that is versitial en able to deal with most situations..

(thinking a berserker / cleric mainly to the fact there extremly tuff to kill since: regenaration, berserker rage, and a bunch of other spells like increase str and hp and the one that grands magic res. and also the wide range of resistance the got.)

I guess you didn't read the whole thread (no surprise there -- it's long).

I easily did it with a multi-class R/C. Piece of cake actually.

Death ward and chaotic commands are your friend.
