[IMG] Ok, I'm having a weird problem installing IWD2. No idea what the **** is going on, since I installed the game with these very CDs about 6 months ago with no problems.

At 73% on Disc 2, I get an error which looks like this:

    Componetn Transfer Error
    Component: Recommended
Filegroup: Recommended Uncompressed - US English
    File: E:bad:CD2\Data\SNDvo.bif
Error: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)

After I hit ok, windows proceeds to ask for disc 1, claiming the wrong volume is in the drive. Then I get a setup.exe error and the installation just shuts down.

IIRC, Data Error means there was a problem getting the data off the disc. That means either your disc is scratched (and you need a new one), or your CD player is malfunctioning (and you need a new one).

And having played the game with it even seconds before the install error is no guarantee. I've had a game disc that did just that, likely because the file that the install depended on (which had a scratch marring that area of the disc) was unused in playing the game. The same thing may have happened if you had a full install, as it wouldn't be depending on that file off of the CD. The scratch could then have happened any time between that install and this attempt and you would be none the wiser.
