[IMG] Lately sleep has been evading me. Too many changes I guess, lots of stress, many things to meditate upon.

Anyone else get plauged with this?

A few things always go through my mind. Abraham Kuyper (all you dutch-boys better know who that is!) once wrote that we should be thankful for sleeplessness because it gives us more time to pray. Well, its 2:30am, I have to work tomorrow, and I don't know what else to pray about ... so I'm here!

In the Psalms David wrote "The Lord gives sleep to those he loves" ... I guess I'm not on the Big Guy's "A" list lately ;) j/k

Seriously ... can anyone relate? I'm not staying up just to play IWD2 (the game is on the work computer locked up 10 miles away) ... I just can't sleep!

Insomnia happens from time to time. The best thing to do I have heard is to try to 'ignore' it. Do stuff around the house you dont have time to do otherwise. Sooner or later you will get tired and even if you are unable to get more than a few hours sleep tonight imagine how tired you will be tomorrow night, hopefully you will be able to sleep then due to sheer exhaustion.

I have an insomniac friend who wanders around the school looking like a zombie. I think it would be a good idea to use these extra hours to catch up on some playing of games.
Someone said that  That David guy was pretty sad...

I guess I really don't have to answer this. If oyu look at the times when I post, you know I have a major case of it!

When people haven't slept for a long time they can't think clearly anymore. Which IMO is the case with this Abraham Kuyper (And I have no idea who he is)

Either that or he was smoking something that Holland is famous for

Abraham Kuyper was a 'VIP' in the late 19th century and begin 1900, known for being a Prime Minister/Premier, Theologian and a Journalist. He also wrote some books (some have to do with spiritual balance, iirc, FYI Math)

Sometimes, when I can't sleep, I decide to start eating, plundering the fridge and the cabinet with cookies. I don't have to worry to get fat (yet). I want to gain 5 kg/11 lbs, but it just won't happen.
After I ate all provisions, lets say at about 3.30am, I watch MTV/TMF. That's usually boring and will get me asleep with a full stomach. :D

Edit: One more thing about A.Kuyper.
He was born with a huge head and people suspected he had water on the brain (hydrocephalus?). He turned out to be very, very intelligent, though.

Warm milk and honey always seems to do the trick for me. It has a very relaxing effect, and just preparing it takes your mind off the sleeping problem for a while.
