    Hello,

I'm starting to play ToEE which I bought in a DnD packs along with Baldur gates, NWN and such. It's a nice game, but everything seems so tiny in it!

I have a 1280x1024 monitor, but the game runs too slow on it, and I prefer to have it in a smaller window. So 1024x768 is ok, but the texts are almost unreadable because the font chosen is way too small. I can't find a way to increase it. If I go full screen in 1024x768 it's a bit bigger, but then the appearance is ugly and the screen is distorded because of my monitor size.

Is there a hack to increase the font size?

If it's not included in the Co8 pack I don't think so - at least I haven't heard of one yet.

Drop it down to 800x600. The graphics still render quite well at that resolution.

EDIT: whoops. Thread necromancy. Sorry about that.

I'm not sure if I should have "necroed" this thread or started a new one, but has a solution been found in the last two years? My system supports the 1280x1024x32 option, but I'm REALLY squinting in full screen mode at anything more than the 800x600 resolution.

Unfortunately no, there's no way to change the font size.

    Small Font Work-Around FOUND!

I've found a work-around for the tiny text. This is NOT an elegant solution, but it does make the game playable without having to squint.

The solution is to adjust the Windows font DPI control from the standard 96 to the large 120.
This is a global setting that will affect ALL applications, and may mess up the way your desktop looks, but it works for the game.

    Code:
To do this, in Windows 98 though XP,
    use the Display control panel.
Right click on the Desktop and choose "Properties".
Click the right-most "settings" tab, that's the one that changes the screen resolution.
    Click the "Advanced" button.
On the "General" tab is a setting called "Font size"
Change it from "small fonts" (98) or "normal size (96DPI)" (XP) to "large fonts"
    * * *

    Code:
    In Windows Vista
    Right-click on the desktop
    Choose "personalize"
on the left-hand side under "tasks" is
    "Adjust font size (DPI)"
    click that.
Click on the "Larger Scale (120DPI)" instead of the "Default scale (96DPI)"

I should repeat, this is NOT an ellegant solution, and is about as surgical as a 1st level barbarian with a club and a DEX of 3, but it gets the job done. I'm just embarrassed I didn't think of this 6 months ago, I've been aware of the option in question for over a decade, but I just don't use it so I never thought of it.
