When a thief has II cast on them, can they backstab continually? Or, after their initial attack, for all intents and purposes do they become 'visible' but just hard to hit? That's what I've always assumed, but it would be cool if I was wrong (if not cheesy as well).

Anybody know for sure? Of course someone does...

No, you cannot continually backstab using this method.

The only method I'm aware of of getting constant backstabs is to do mislead ( + spell immunity: divination and abjuration if you want to protect it from disspelling).

It is indeed super cheesy (more in the sense that its overpowered than anything else). If you're a fighter/mage/thief you can do things like have undispellable constant backstabbing with 10 attacks per round (from greater whirlwind).

Just keep the clone out of the enemies line of site - If they can't see it, they can't dispel it and you will stay invisible. You save a spell immunity this way. Also, even if your clone is in sight SI:abjuration probably wont make much of a difference - the improved invis from the mislead already renders you untargetable by defence removal spells...unless theres some nasty trick that I'm not aware of.
