[IMG] Ok, so I just managed to defeat BG2 about half an hour ago, and after rewatching all the movies and stuff I am now starting to think about sending a solo character through - for fun, I really don't expect to win again. *grin*

But the portraits in BG2 stink as compared to the awesome portraits in IWD - especially the HoW expansion portraits. Of course, IWD bores me to tears. So... does enyone know where the files for the IWD portriats can be found? I've searched my file directory left and right but I can't find them.

I don't know that, but you can find those portraits from internet. That's what I did. Try this address; www.planetbaldursgate.com/xode or something like that...

If you have no joy there you can use the infintiy explorer programme to access the portraits in the game. Download the programme and run it. At the start you will need to tell it where you Icewind Dale game is installed. Once it has scanned your files, click on the the 'Graphics (BMP) directory. All the portraits will be in there (in all neccessary sizes). In the case of Icewind Dale, scroll down to the section starting DFF_G (Dwarf, female fighter - general). Choose the ones you want then select 'File\Export Current File' and save it in your BG2 Portratits folder.

PS You can download Infinity Explorer from this site (scroll down to near the bottom):
    http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/index_editors.php

PPS On the same site you will find a load of other portraits for download and others can be found in the other Sorcerer's Games sites.

PPPS Note this method for extracting portraits applies to any BG type game.
