Ok, I read in Dan Simpson's Faq/Walkthrough that if you import from BG1, a few of the items you get in Irenicus's Dungeon will change(Sword of Chaos +2, Illiych's Armor, and Helm of Balduran specifically), depending on what you had on you when you imported, I assume. I'd just like to know if this has to be from your BG1 Final Save, or if you can do it via .chr file?

BTW, I'm trying to get that nifty Long Sword +2: Varscona into the game legitly.

It's Final save, that you must import.
I have imported my BG1 items once, but items in Irenicus' Dungeon didn't change (so, I got two Helm of Baldurans :p )

You can actually import any savegame, actually. If you're below 89000 experience points, the game will automatically adjust for you.

I believe dan simpson mentioned a way to retain all your BG1 items.

And don't forget the Pantaloons. Never forget the Pantaloons.

There's an end message like "char1 and Final-save created",i think you must import from final-save and when there's a black screen you must pause the game.I've read from Dan Simpson too and he says a way.
But like Harkle my items didn't change too, i had 2 helm of baldurans.

Well, I think you'd only get a different item if it was on your character that you imported, if he was still wearing a helm of balduran when you imported you'd just get another one. Anyway, I know how to do the black screen method, but that's not legit :) . I just finished BG1 with my Fighter/Mage, so I'll try it out and see what I get.

Import your char with the items from bg1.
When the area is loaded, PAUSE before the "AARRGGHHH..." comes. Go to inventory screen and DROP all items.

Once dropped, unpause and let the start go on.
After Imoen frees you, you can pick those items up.

Urgh, that's what I was referring to when I said the black screen method, and to me that's as much of a cheat as fake talk or any other of that garbage. I like how thorough Dan Simpsons Guide is but it's filled with cheats which he calls "strategies" or "tricks"...

Anyway, it worked for me when I imported from Final Save, Genie handed me the Varscona +2 :) .

You can get much better items in BG2 rather quicky.

The only ones I found useful to import:
    -Robe of Bauluran-
-Spider's Bane- (I had two people who used 2-handed swords)
    -Gauntlets of Ogre Power-
-Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise- (+1 thaco/+2 damage)
-Helm of Baulduran- (2 are nice)
    -Boots of Haste-
    -Boots of Avoidance-
    -Golden Pantaloons-
-Ring of Holiness- (cleric/druid spell ring)
-Robe of the xxx Archmage- (if you are a Mage)
    -Ring of Fire Resistance-
    -Ring of energy-
    -Ring of invisiblity-
-those arrows that explode into a fireball, I had 17 of them I think-

I'm using most of these above still (I'm level 13).

I needed to make these two things special:
Ring of Wizardy (2x level 1 spells)
    Dimension Door Spell Scroll

You have 16 slots plus what you are wearing.
    Choose carefully. ;)

Wow, you actually need all that crap? With all those items at the beginning of the game it must VERY easy. Varscona isn't that powerful at all, I just liked it in BG1 and found a way to get it into the game without cheating, like you are :) .

Well when you spread them out amoung 6 members each only gets one or two nice items to start with.

But you can get most of these items rather soon in the game.

If you just want a few take Robe of Balduran (I don't think it appears in BG2 normaly) and Gauntlets of Ogre Power, Gauntlets of Weapons Expertise and the Boots of Haste, and a ring or two. And those Golden Pantaloons...!
