Here is the Deal.
You know that wand thatImoen has just as you leave Candlekeep? Well for me she only has it sometimes. Once i restarted the game three times because i could not get the char right, and she only had the wand the first time and not the other two. Could this be a bug or osmthing because that wand can be really usefull that early in the game.

 

I have hadd the same experience. So I think her equipment is randomized between a few options. Or more excotic solutions could be how you adress her inside candlekeep or which quests you do there. I'll look in some walkthroughs and see if I can find anything.

 

I dont think it has anything to do with What you say to her at the keep. I alway tell her the same thing. The last one of the options and the thing happens again and again.

 

I haven't found anything in any walkthrough neither. I can't see why alignment or anything else should have something to do with it. So I guess it is random=Some sort of Bug

 

Yeah. Well we just have to live with it. S*it happens. Not like its anybodys fault.

 

I experienced that too. You are right the wand is very usefull to a beguining party.
To my knowlage the wand at least is random.

 

This may have nothing to do with it, but as I understood it through a few casual tests, it seems that she only has the wand when I am on level 1 when i leave Candlekeep. Every time I've killed Firebead Elvenhair and gained a level before leaving she hasn't had it, and when I don't, she does, if all those pronouns aren't too confusing...

 

The old FireBeard Elven hair trick! I never realized you couldn't get the wand if you leveled up!

 

And that is how powergamers get punished... Just let Elvenbeard live, he's a friend of your father and also your friend in the story. Let him live and you can increase your reputation by one easily, costs you only 3 gold pieces for the book. The Wand of Missiles of Imoen has few charges. It is indeed useful in the beginning, but it is alerady identified, so a better use would be so try not to use it and sell it in de Friendly Arm Inn. It can be sold for 225 gold pieces I think and that isn't bad for that part of the game. Also sell the potions of speed....

 

In my game she either has the wand or a studded leather armor, so i say that it's random.

 

The idea of it beeing level based is interesting. But My main character left as 1/1 and Imoen didn't have the wand. Perhaps the computer calculates a 1/1 as a second level character. hmmm

 

I think it's random and you have to be level 1!

 

if you start BG as a single class character she will have the wand. if you start as a multi-class character she won't have the wand.

 

I don't think that's right. When I soloed a F/M/C she still had it.

 

Nay, I also think that isn't right. I am not sure if Imoen had the wand every time but normally she has the wand always. I have to say that I never left Candlekeep in the beginning at level 2, always at level 1. But it is very easy to check. I didn't had time for it for I'm at work again but can't somebody just start a single player game, kill Firebeard Elvenhair, leave Candlekeep and check Imoen her inventory?

 

I think it has to do with level. Once I cheated to Lv 6/7 in f/m, and she didn't have it. I have a number of other Experience like that.

 

I thought you all actually knew something about BG? Didn't you know that at least 25% of the game is randomized? and 50% of that depends on your character's race, class, and charisma. And your party's reputation? And even the choices you make? (Like answers to questions) I thought ya'll knew that?

 

May I ask you to share your wisdom of where you got those percentages? And in case you say yes. Then please do
