Imoen - is she really necessary?

I have just rescued Iomen and changed her for Jan as my thief and to get her in the party , but when you leave Jan , he has to stay in the area and , does'nt have the option to go back to the city.

I have read in the dialogues about not needing Imoen , part is she not part of the story line or an I missing something.

Views Please ???

 

Well in the dream, it seems that she's neccesarry for only together you can beat the Lord of Murder. But it's really a good a queetion for I have a multiplayer-party and don't wanna have Imoen in my party, can I just tell her in Spellhold that I don't need her and she should stay? Or does she go to the Copper Coronet too?

 

Well, from a storyline perspective, I wouldn't kick her out, even though you would be able to finish the game without her. She's your sister, and she's supposed to mean something to you, and all that... (Jan, on the other hand, is just a colorful lunatic)

 

Yes but I played the game in Single Player mode and had Imoen in my party but now I created a multiplayer-party and I realy can't use her in my party now. In SP she meant something to me and it don;t like to hurt her by letting her out of the party... Maybe I just tell her to wait until I finished my MP-game and start with a single-player party again. But maybe I'll play an evil party then and Imoen doesn't like that too. She's important for the story but doesn't fit in an evil party, that's a problem.

 

Ah, my initial response considered only the good/neutral case. If you're evil, and you feel she's getting to be a burden, or slows you down in any way, the only sensible thing would be to mount her on a trashcan and leave her behind. (or that's my opinion anyway)

...and she'll show up in the Copper Coronet if you ask her to. (At least from what I hear - I've never kicked her out)

Hmm I'm not evil but I played a neutral/good SP and a good MP-party so I thought it would be fun (and it would me more difficult) to play also an evil party once.

I'm playing a good party , so maybe I'll have less complaining about that itch Jan gets.

Ps she does go to the Copper Coronet , at least thats what she says in her Dialog. But if I leave Jan in spellhold Asylum will I be able to get back to him , should I change my mind.

 

Yes, I think he will find his own way back to his house, there you can find him... or maybe you'll find him back in prison

And Imoen is really much better then Jan.

Yeah but he's evil, and I have a goodie-goodie party with a rep. of 20, so he won't join me. Maybe next time through...

 

Imoen is (a) a good thief, (b) your sister [family !!!] and (c) a good mage - so why dump her?

 

Comfession time, first time through I let Imoen join then released her because she seems to be able to get back to the Copper Coronet when no one else can (and I couldn't leave anyone behine in Spellhold). I picked her up as soon as I got back though and hadn't realised how long a journey I would face. From then on she was a liability to the rest of the party as she is so weak.

As I've expressed elsewhere this seems riduculous as she is now a mage and has spent the entire time since leaving you being 'trained' by one of the most powerful mages ever. In those circumstances, how on earth does she not gain any experience?

So for the next run through, I had to take her into the party straight away (a role play thing and I was running an all women NPC party). However, to reflect her time with Iranicus, I used shadow keeper to bump up her expereince to a similar level as the other NPC. Yeah cheating I know but it was the second time through and I think Bioware were wrong to have you 'forced' to pick up a weak character. Anyway, like that, she rocked again.

Family? What sort of a reason is that? Sarevok was just as much your brother as Imoen is your sister.

 

Not that it would be of importance Ironbeard, but for some weird, unexplainable reason she *never* tried to kill me and half of fearun ......
