I'm so sad. I won't be able to get BG2 until late next month. By that time I would have missed out all the fun you guys have had and you'd all be moving on while I'd still be a newbie.

But I'm glad too, because I managed to try out BG2! It's certainly not disapppointing and I think it definitely has a lot of replayability value.

One thing though, Chapter Two certainly looks quite overwhelming for a newly created character. It seems that a character imported from ToSC would stand a better chance, considering that there are many tough monsters to fight. For example, my Ranger got the Umar Hills quest immediately, but to complete it don't I have to kill a Shadow Dragon?

And this for a group that got ass-kicked by those bullies in the Den of Seven Vales!

To top it off, Imoen - who although whiny - a very good spellcaster was kidnapped and now I'm left without a good magic user! Aerie doesn't cut it, she's whiny but not as good!

And Yoshimo just looks like he blows donkeys, he's the first to go as soon as I find a good thief.

Jaheira seems quite sucky too, and I want to lose her, but I hear she opens up the Harper quest for you, and I want to be a Harper so I guess she has to stay? You know, Jaheira wouldn't be so bad at all if the developers just give a little more thought about her weapon proficiencies.

She's a fighter/druid right? And yet why does she only have 1 * spread out in a lot of weapons??? Jeez! Let her specialize in a weapon and put more *s in sword and shield!

Anybody knows the maximum proficiency a fighter druid can have in one weapon or style? I'm going to edit her with Shadowkeeper but I don't want to cheat.

 

Only fighter classes can have more than one in each proficiency. (Paladins and rangers are considered fighters.) But only pure fighters or fighters kits can have more than two in each. This means that multi-class fighters, rangers and paladins can't go beyond 2. However, a dual-classed fighter seems to be able to trespass this limit. (Noticed this on Anomen!)

Put at least a point or two into maces, flails or hammers. Better yet, all 3

You can thank me when you have Crom Faer, the Flail of the Ages, or any of the other good blunt weapons.

Personally, I'm into dual wield and two weapon style for my barbarian, (Minsc gets the 2 handed swords) but if I created a ranger, bard, cleric, etc, I would go with sword and shield style.

 

Aerie is my favorite spell caster, Last time i didnt use Aerie, but now i wish i had, for me shes my Lower resistance caster. I would dump Jahiera or Natalie before her. (though if natalie was a better theif, im sure i would use her more.) And now that she has a
-2 AC she is a really good mage.

 

I'm not sure of the top of my head what waepons druid can use, but I don't think they can use maces, hammers, or flails. The sole reason I like Jahiera is that she can use scmitars. I Baldur's Gate, she worked nicely with gauntlets of ogre power and Frostbarand +3, so I imported them into Baldur's 2 for her to use and that makes her a very nice fighter with 18/00 strength, 17 dex, and 17 const. If I can find some ways to up her wisdom without cheating, I'd be happy. Anyway, ariee is a very good choice for spell caster with the huge array of spells she can use. Not good for anything else though. I like using jan jansen till you get imoen back. He fufills both thieving and mage duties nicely with the mercykller ring.

 

Hmm.....fighter druids can have up to three slots in sword and shield right?

I don't have a problem with my main character though. Eleven ranger with 19 str 20 dex and 16 con, 11 int 16 wis and 9 cha. Muahah! What can go wrong?

But I sort of have my eyes set on Crom Faeyr and the celestial Katana though....
