    [​IMG] I'm just starting out and I need to know what type of sword I ought to use. Scimitars are tempting, but people complain that there aren't any good ones. Does anyone know of any good swords I can get later in the game so I don't waste my proficiency slots on useless weapons? Thanks...

    I took flails and maces, although I'm a little peeved that I gave all the illithium away! #(*&#@ I read you need it to coat the Mace of Disruption. Blood and ashes I say!

    Long Sword and Two-Handed Swords are your best bet if you're looking for swords. Lilacor is something else.

    [​IMG] Depends on your character and preferred style. If you are a fighter and like dual wielding, I'd put my first six Prof stars like this: 3 in long sword; 1 in katana; and two in two weapon style. When you get more from leveling, put them where you feel needed. When I started my fighter, I spread them out a little more (not knowing what weapons were available and when). Now, young jedi, you may benefit and learn wisdom. There are lots of long swords and good ones, too, fairly early and easy to get. Plus some of the best swords are long swords: Daystar, Blade of Roses, Dragon Destroyer, and Equalizer, to name a few. There aren't as many good katanas, but you will get a decent one right away, and later, the Celestial Fury!

    Should get you well on your way. Go forth, and slay mightily!!

    Bastard swords are few and far between, but I loved Jhor the Bleeder. +2 bastard sword with 5 rounds of an additional 2 points of damage per round... Fantastic! :) Problem is it's found in the Underdark :(

    Oh and Syl, you really blew it with the Illithium deal :) Makes the Mace of Disruption provide protection from level drain. Very nice! :)

    Heh... Damn buggers is right! Especially since they make it seem like the right thing to do, and it's most likely you'll do the Illithium quest for the Temple of Helm long before you get the mace (although that wasn't true for me luckily :) )

    Those damn developers did it just to piss you off and get you to play again with superior knowledge ;)

    [​IMG] I am going through the game for the second time. What I did was use 2 slots on two handed, 2 on flail and 2 on long sword. This allows me to use the Flail of the Ages and any good long sword at the same time. You dont need to use anything for shield because you can find gauntlets of dex which are awsome. I am running around with AR -14 19 str and doing some awsome damage. Hope this helps you.

    I won't be playing this game again. Once I beat it, that's it.

    I will though, travel back in time with my guardian Shadowkeeper and fix this error on Biowares part on failing to let the player know he may need the Illithium for later on.

    Just wondering....

    I remember the illithid blood and I had the mace of disruption, are there any clues built into the game that hint at their combination or do you just have to guess? Does the dwarven smithy have to combine the two items or can I be a do-it-yourselfer?
