Is it best to complete SoA and then install ToB?

Or is it better to load ToB in the later chapters of SoA?

Does the storyline work better one way or the other? Are there events you miss one way or the other?

Doesn't really make much difference. If you have both, might as well install both at the same time and save yourself the bother of doing it later.

I don't have ToB yet. I'm in Chapter 5 of SoA, so I was wondering about the urgency. So... little difference you say. Thanks.

Well, you'll basically reach the point where you need to install ToB when you get to Hell in SoA (and finish it), so you're not that far away from being forced to install it if you want to play further.

With regards to at least one item (the cloak of reflection I asked about in an earlier post) I would not install TOB until I absolutely had to -- they say the mod that TOB makes for the cloak makes it less fun -- instead of reflecting spells BACK at their caster, it merely bounces said spell away harmlessly. I'd love to see some petrified, dead beholders! So I wouldn't install ToB until I was pretty darn close to the XP cap -- I'd hate to get XP over and above the 2950000 mark and have it vanish into the ether because I hadn't loaded TOB.

The flipside to this discussion is that the first two levels of Watchers Keep have some nice goodies, and a party with everyone kicking around 10-12 level should be able to do those levels easily. I also like the 4th level for ease, but getting past that stupid teleport maze is a pain. But I digress. To get some good stuff, watchers Keep is the place to go.
