[IMG] Any opinion on a male Drow Paladin of Mystra/Wizard?

    Example:
    Paladin-2/Wizard
    Str 6
    Dex 20
    Con 10
    Int 20
    Wis 4
    Cha 20

Male drow favored class is Wizard and a Paladin of Mystra can switch back and forth between these classes just in case you want another Paladin level later on.

It's probably a good idea to take Weapon Finesse. ;)

The early Paladin levels give a good head start on HP's which will be comparatively low due to the mediocre Constitution.

The very low Wisdom should not be a problem thanks to Paladin save bonuses, Drow bonus to Will saves and Drow Spell Resistance.

With Intelligence this high it's easy to pour skill points into Diplomacy, Bluff, Intimidate and still have points left over. There's even enough to put some into Disable Device - no need for a Rogue!

I don't think Weapon Finesse will be any good idea since he has str. 6 - -2 penalty and with a small weapon he will do 1-2 damage per hit - you really need this?Just keep on shooting. And because of his enormous str. he'll have to take the feat for more strentgh on carring things (forgot the name again).I don't think he'll be the best character ever too :) :D :)

Do you think you can make him the diplomat/speaker? He's a Paladin, so he'll refuse all rewards, and may not bluff anyone. (I'm sure that Paladins don't get the bluff dialog options in *some* conversations). I wouldn't risk bluff points on a paladin or a monk in this game.

My speaker is a cleric. She has high CHA for that, but it also helps her to turn tougher undead.

I think one of the best guides to multiclassing is to match the main ability requirements.

Paladin and Sorcerer work well because they both benefit from CHA. (Perhaps even Paladin and Bard).
Rogue and Wizard would work well because they can both use INT (Search and disable traps, many skill points for the rogue). And any class can benefit from high DEX. The Wizard will then also benefit from Evasion if you take the Rogue to level 3, and will certainly find Weapon Finesse useful with his high DEX.
Monk and Cleric would also work well (share WIS) if not for the stupid implementation in IWD2 that cripples the monk's attacks if multiclassed.

    @Quint
Yup, rollin' dices is over thank to the gods....
Was simply annoying my Fighter\Mage\Cleric half-elf in the original IWD:
    STR:18
    DEX:18
    CON:18
    INT:18
    WIS:18
    CHA:8
Mbuahahah Superman at your service :D :D :D

Agreed, Weapon Finesse looks like a bad idea here.

Pal-2/Sor is a great build, as is Rogue-2/Wiz (Evasion is from Rogue-2, right?).

This topic should focus more on the drow part to make it more interesting, because I agree that the Pal/Sor build is generally better.

Paladin as party leader is so annoying. :nolike: I was trying to find a satisfactory build for a leader who isn't Paladin and my mind wandered off into some moldy caves where I found this drow waiting. So much for avoiding Paladin. :D

edited: I think strength 6 is sufficient to carry stuff.

Wheee! These are some nice tips. Thanks. I just got the game and wanted to start a party.
Just learned in this thread that a Pal is not the best choice for a protagonist if you want some loot. Sorcerers may be week at the beginning. Bards...mh..dunno, dont play them often. I rather have a char that exiles in something. A bard is just a Master of None to me: No magician, no thief, no tank. So it will be a cleric of Lathander again, with high Charisma.
    Thank you!
    :D

[IMG] When you choose a moonblade as your weapon you can use weapon finesse to good effect. Since the moonblade's damage is completely magical anyway your're strength is kinda irrelevant ;)

Why haven't anyone rolled an 18/18/18/18/18/18 yet? just wondering..

Go straight wizard, the level you lose on the pally could mean a new spell level. A lot more important imo

I forgot to say, my diplomat cleric *is* drow. She's actually the only character I chose from the ready-made ones, Sferia Ranul's her name.

1)Dont wast all youre stats on dex and other to make them high! You still get anothe 7 points along the game so rather take youre strenght a bit higher(Is this pallie gonna use flipping sticks with the stenght he has) and dex lower at a bout 14 and it should be alright!
2)CONCENTRATION is a must take it as high as you can and then use it for other stats like bluff, intimidate and diplomacy to help youre speech with NPC's
3)Give youre pallie long swords and bows. their two very powerfull weapons that will get you past the game in no time! By the way SPOILER: Buy the heart of <CHARNAME> and later you can turn it into the golden heart of <CHARNAME> which is quite cool and powerfull!

Padeen!(I know paladins, the reast you can have!)
