[IMG] I got a magazine with an advertisement on the back for Drizzt's swords. I found them online, I don't know if anyone has posted about this, but I thought I'd share:

Who would want dorky weapons belonging to a wussy elven ranger eh?

Hmm, they dont really look like scimitars, I had expected them to be more curved.

I have seen them before and I still think that they look much too straight to be considered scimitars.

I agree...They definitely need a little more curve to them. Plus, didn't Drizzt find the swords separately? Why do they look almost identical?

Actually scimitars are not real weapons but are based on Shamshir's which makes that website sound even worse:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shamshir

If you look online for antique weapons you always come accross Zorro swords, Highlander swords, Troy swords (!) etc.

You are correct, he most certainly did obtain them seperately so they shouldn't look so much like a matched pair. Also, given that he found Icingdeath in a dragon's lair in Icewind Dale, why would it have "Dark Elven script"?

Oh, and didn't he like the look of Icingdeath because of the cat design on the hilt? There certainly doesn't appear to be one on the sword.

I didn't remember all the detail JSBB, I just remembered he found them separately. It's funny how marketing folks will just make a product without doing any research...

It is funnier still when you consider that they claim that it comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by Salvatore. You would think that he at least would care enough to make sure the swords were at least somewhat consistent with the way he described them in the books.

I guess that all he really cared about was the :money:

I guess the dragon really, really hated cakes! :p

Oh, and no I can't think of any reason why a self-respecting guy would use a sword named Twinkle.

It's true, Sting, Andruil, Narsil, Glamdring, Orcrist, and Gurthang are much better names for swords!!!

What happened to the REAL selling points? Like the AC+2 and the +3/+5 enchantments!

$210 for each eh? How much did they sell for in game again? Quick, someone work out the currency exchange rate.

Well, they're definitely not scimitars, shamshirs, tulwars, cutlasses, falchions, sabres, kopis (plural?) or khopeshes.

They do, however, posses ridiculous names, as has been noted.

You're only finding out that you can buy those two swords now?

They've been on sale over at Swords-Online for many months now. That's where I first found them.
    Twinkle
    Icingdeath

I think that they are the same swords as linked to in the first post here...but if you are seriously thinking about buying them, I'd suggest you go through Swords-Online. :rolling:

They look rather nice, but have little to do with scimitars.
