Been looking for help all over the internet and so I landed here....

Just went and installed Icewind Dale 2 on my pc. It runs fine, but I have no character or attack sounds. The ambiance and music play fine though. Any ideas on how to solve this issue?? Please!

I have seen this question elsewhere on the internet, but with no responses.

I am running vista ultimate on a AMD Duo core processor. I can give the specs if u need it, but this is either a vista issue or some setting. I have the game patched to 2.01 (I believe is the number).

First make sure you didn't accidentally disable the char-sounds in the config menu or in the in-game option.
Since music and ambiance play, your sound set-up seems ok.
And make sure you installed the game in any folder but the \program files xx\

    Modern OS are a *****!

Take a plain one, like C:bad:Games\

I dunno about Vista, but did you take a look at the audio hardware acceleration, and if you have the tab, lover it a few steps. (run "dxdiag" ing your start-tab)

    Try than and report back

And welcome to the BoM ;)

    Sorry, had work all weekend...

Nothing was disabled. I checked the game config and all is good. Install was to a good folder. No open GL.
My sound is a Realtek AC'97 Audio. Not sure if it's a sound conflict of some kind, or this game is just too out of date, or it just doesn't like vista. It did work on my XP pc, and I am running in XP compatability mode even though it works without having to do that.
