A while back I attempted to install Icewind dale 2, my second disk was scratched up pretty bad and wouldn't read. I tried to uninstall the game but it showed a registy problem. My nephew( the computer whiz) took care of that problem .When I put the new disk 1 into the drive to start the installation, the install icon is greyed out.It will alow me to press the uninstall button but that brings up this message
"Error retreiving unistallation information from the registry. You may need to delete the application manually." That would be fine if I knew how to do this. I cannot find Interplay or BlackIsle online for support so I thought I would ask in here. Thank you for any help at all.

[IMG] Your nephew (the whiz) didn't clean up the registry completely. There's still some leftover of the installation there, which is making your OS think the game is still installed. I don't remember if the IWD2 install can be run via the CD to bypass the auto-popup, but try that. In Explorer, go to the CD and look for executables in the root of the CD. One of them should be a direct install executable, which should enable you to install the game again and overwrite any settings already in the registry.

The other option is harder... you'd need to scan the entire registry for any mention of Interplay and Icewind Dale, and delete all those keys.

There's probably also a third option (forced install via a parameter on the executable, in case solution #1 doesn't work), but I don't remember which parameter must be used.

Thanks Taluntain, I was able to find a couple registry entries and then manually install the game. It seems to work now. Thanks for all your help.
