[IMG] I have Jan in my party and invested his thieving skills until he has 100% Detect Illusion. Now, how do I make use of this skill? He can't detect mirror image etc. of enemies. I even tried switching on his detect trap button in the middle of battle but nothing happens.

Perhaps I have the wrong expectations of what this skill can do? If so, can someone please enlighten me. I was hoping that this skill can replace the spells True Sight, Oracle or (wishful thinking here) perhaps Detect Invisibility.

I don't believe ANYTHING beats the True Sight spell that Clerics or Mages can have. But I was able to get my Fighter/Thief Detect Illusion up to 115%.

However WAY before I had him up to that 115% level he was able to dispel Illusions/Phantasms from Images, Invisibility, to Mislead etc. in the midst of battles. But the catch is he has to be next to the opponent (most of the time) or has to 'strike' the Illusion (rare occasion) in order for him to dispel the Illusion/Phantasm.

Hope that helps. But Jan is LOW on Hit Points so... you may be taking 'undue risk' with him on the frontline (to dispel illusions) against a 'Kobold' in battle. Not to mention any creature that is a bit more challenging.

To detect illusions, it's the same thing as finding traps. Just click the button and wait a little. (it's the find/detect traps button)

[IMG] Thanks, guys. I have tried clicking the find traps button - perhaps I need to wait a little bit longer before it is effective.

If not, I might take on Draco's suggestion and stand nearer the enemy. Just had an idea - so as Jan is not injured while detecting illusions, maybe I can make him invisible (I have two invisibility rings).

According to the rules found in the manual & the Detect Illusion ability description found when you are 'leveling up' and adding points to the Detect Illusion ability, it gives a different description than the one in the manual.

The Finding/Removing traps ability will allow you to spot illusions IF you have enough points in the Detect Illusion ability (it will always find secret doors). However the Find/Remove trap ability is primarily used for 'non combat' situations... not combat situations where any attack your Thief makes will disable the Find Trap icon/ability. Again, I never had my icon/ability enabled during battles but was able to successfully dispel Illusions from the Circus Tent/Aerie quest to the 'Mislead' King Jon Irenicus. This was due to having points invested in the Detect Illusion ability (indicated more pointedly in the game description when adding points to the abiltiy than the description found in the manual).
