How do the NPC portraits work?

    If I pick a photo/picture for my character that is used for a common NPC, do they both get the same one? Does the NPC have an alternate pic? Anyone had a different Imoen, say that the scarred one? or a dred-locked Jaheira? or a dwarf head on your elf?

    No, it replaces the portrait appropriately. The portraits of the NPC's who came in from the original BG (Imoen, Jahiera, Minsc, Edwin, Viconia) get replaced with their original BG portraits if you assign their new portraits to your protagonist. All the other NPC's will get the original BG portraits as well, but I'm not sure who gets what.
