Well... I've about had it playing this game. It reminds me of a hack n slash version of Myst. The whole thing is NOTHING BUT PUZZLES. Some of you may like that, but I HATE them....and if I'd known this game was nothing but that, I would have never started it. And the pathing problems....good lord, like they weren't bad enough the first time with NWN!!!! You'd think they would at least fix that!! :flaming:

[IMG] Calm down now. Just let us know where you're stuck at. :D :D

Hint: At the Puzzler's energy barrier, flip the levers until they all emit a blue light. Then, turn the statues until they face the door before flipping the final switch.

I enjoyed the puzzles the first time around, but I'm playing through for the second time, and I don't think I can go on... once you know the answers to all the puzzles, you realize how much of the game is actually taken up by them.

Makes the replayability kind of boring.

The answers to most of them I find pretty obvious though, they practically fall into a pattern after a while.

Example: the "3 guardians" and the "puzzler" areas have virtually the same solution.

I couldn't agree more. Tedious puzzles seem to be all the rage these days (IWD 2 was riddled with them). HOTU has got to have some of the lamest puzzles I've ever come across and getting past one poorly designed puzzle only to come across another two minutes later shot the boredom factor through the roof. As such, I've given up playing HOTU until a detailed walkthru comes out at which point I'll cheat my way through to the end just to see how it all finishes off.

In a way it's a shame the puzzles ruined this game because the epic levels and feats and spells made HOTU seem almost exciting at times. But when you run across all these dismal puzzles you just give up in disgust. Epic levels be damned. I'd far sooner play BG1 any day.

I totally agree. What's sad about this is that the storyline is GREAT, the game itself would have been so outstanding, except for the overuse of puzzles. It really detracts from the game.

The puzzle that I'm currently at is the islands in the fire pit, trying to get to the other side. Watching the arrows on the little islands change, I've tried to get to the other side, to no avail. Also a couple of the islands have 2 sets of levers on them, which I have no idea as to what the significance of the second lever is.

Spell Bound, the levers on the left side. when you "switch them" you'll move to the island in the direction that the arrow is pointing. the switch on the right changes the color of the statues on the other side of the pit..

The puzzles are tedious and yes BG 1&2 are better games. But it is a GOOD game

I've solved that and have gone deeper to find the Guardian of the Path. Killed him, only he's fallen ON TOP of the portal and we can't use it, due to the pathing problems. I can't get access to it, with the stupid thing laying on top of it.

I found the problem. My inventory was full, so I didn't take all of his items. If you dont, his body doesn't disappear to free up the portal.

Somebody please do a bloody walkthrough for this game!!!! :bang:

Like what Artechoke says: perhaps a short break might be in order.

Anyway, you're almost done with the puzzles at this point.

The puzzles kind of reminded me of the n64 zelda. I enjoyed them. Better than word puzzles at least.
