I still haven't finished HotU. I played it for about an hour when it came out but I had to format and have been too lazy to reinstall it. Is it worth my while reinstalling and finishing it? I played the other expansion before HotU but I gave up on it half way through because it was crap.

I would say it is, HoU is the best part of NWN(without the mods) it has a great story compared to the others and parts of it made me remember BG, if the whole OC had been like HoU's last two chapters, then NWN would have been the greatest game ever. well almost anyway.

True. The first chapter of HotU is boring, though. Corridors with traps and silly lever-and-chain-puzzles. Things improve big style when you reach chapter 2, so don't give up too early.

I'm not sure that you should. If you thought that SoU was "crap", the improvements in HotU may not be good enough for you. Then again, only you can decide if you like it, so try it and if you don't like it, then give the game away to someone who will enjoy it.

When I bought HOTU I completly abandoned my OC game to play it. The improvements are increadibly rich in my opinion. Though I am also one who would rather start with a high level kickass character on some occasions. The whole character development got old for me in the OC when I fought the same enemies to no end. (seriously now... how many zombies does my monk need to whack before he gets better at killing them already??)
