For those who have read Jukka's Ultimate Powergaming Party, you may think that monster BABs are capped at +52 in HoF mode.
Thus the "Holy Grail" refers to the AC of 72...

    Background:
Most of my IWD2 playing experience was in ignorance. Then I saw a "screenshot of the week" on this site's homepage, that showed the dice rolls in the "message area" of the IWD2 GUI. At first I thought "Wow! Someone has modded that?". Then I found "Attack Rolls" was unchecked in the Options > Feedback screen.

So, my current party, who has played through normal mode and currently in HoF is my first party to experience the delights of this information...

    Issue:
Ice Temple, 1st level: I go in the altar room sneakily and take out the "weaker" enemies, which just leaves the high priestess (Cathin, who carries 2 axes). Now I manage to beat upon her for a while, because she seems too busy to be casting Cure ? Wounds, after an initial cast of DUHM. She then casts Sanctuary and starts hitting me back. She hits me 3 times before I kill her. Here were her messages:

    Hit 1: 8 + 55 = 63: Hit!
    Hit 2: 7 + 55 = 62: Hit!
    Hit 3: 8 + 55 = 63: Hit!

I assume the 7/8 is the D20 roll and the 55 is the AB. So, does 20+55 = 72? No, it equals 75!

It could be 1 of 3 things:
    a) Cathin has at least 9 cleric levels, raising the "capped" AB above 52.
    b) The JUPP is wrong!
    c) My above assumptions were wrong.

So which of the above 3 is correct?

    From jukkas guide:
"It has been noted that apart from a mere few more or less unique monsters such as the Guardian and Chimeras, monster BABs in HOF mode seem to be capped at +52."

52 seems to be the BAB for most monsters unbuffed. Add thye casting of DUHM in the right lvl and you're there at 55. Thats not a big problem since you can debuff or disable buffs from enemies.

Thanks Mudde - I'm sure I had missed something. Maybe it was the emphasis on reaching an AC of 72 that made me forget this part of the text.

It should have read "at least 18" levels for my original post.

There is only really one spell isn't there? Dispel Magic - and this is a BAD idea in HoF, especially if you have a high AC decoy (which I have). Cast this with buffs like Stoneskin, Blink and Mirror Image? I may as well just Ctrl+Y my characters and save myself the trouble of watching my party get obliterated...
