Of course, there are differences between devas, planetars, fallen devas, elementals, etc.. Assuming you can't use Greater Elemental Summoning, what is your favorite.

 

Favorite? Whatever the class I've chose can summon if any. Planetars are somewhat superior.

 

Actually I've checked them all and I can say that Planetars are the most powerful (not the fallen). The planetars have better stats than Devas and an excellent selection of priest and wizard spells. However some spells the fallen have aren't so good (Unholy Blight etc.) because most of your enemies are evil and that's why they are ineffective.

 

Maybe I'm partial to the Deva because it's the only HLA summon I've ever used, but I like it just the same. It's a very effective melee combatant and packs some high-power healing in case I need it. Also, I really like the Blade Barrier spell that it can cast, this makes it even more useful in melee combat.

 

Planetar is the best (Deva is nice). I love how they fight and go around healing your team. I even had one cast Restoration on a level drained character (saved me the extra rest).

 

I'd go with the highest Monster Summoning xx spell, as you get multiple targets thus more decoys, as the Planetar really can't stand up own it's own for too long towards the end of ToB.

 

The planetar stands up fine. The monsters from Summoning XXX last about 5 seconds against Abazigal, Sendai, Draconis and Mellisan.
In my last game (just finished Friday night), the only time I lost a Planetar is when my party had to kill it. Chans damn globe of blades made the Planetar turn hostile.

 

Hardly. The planetar gets chopped up as quickly as the Monster Summoning creatures, just with Monster Summoning there are more, therefore can distract more at once. Keep the planetar back casting support spells.

 

I love the fallen deva! He has been the diffrents between death and victory a lot of times!

 

I think the Deva is rather nice. My sorcerer is busy casting Time Stop in preparation for opening the can of Whoop A _ _.

My inquisitor can pop a Deva out of his magician's hat right quick. The Deva's globe of blades can sometimes be useful.

 

Monster Summoning III will last 0.2 sec against one of the Five. One the other hand, Planetars and Devas can help you during the batlle either by casting spells or fighting. Planetars and Devas aren't ways to distract the enemies, they are your 7th party member.

 

They're all still subject to the Death Spell anyway, no? (Which, incidentally, Melissan has in abundance..)

 

But they're immune to time stop aren't they?

Planetars are the best. What more to say ?

 

A planetar is just an improved deva for all who doesn't know. They are some serious but kickers!
They are way superior to any other monster summoning spells, even GES.
