Help! my character is running around semi-nude

[IMG] My female rogue(3)/wizard(7) has just started Chapter 2 and was wearing a Robe of Fire Resistance (RoFR). I tried to change the robe but encountered some problems.

I can take off the robe and put in inventory but it appears as faded image in the armour slot AND in the inventory - the game was NOT in paused mode. I have noticed the faded images before when I transfer certain items IN paused mode. After I closed the inventory and open it again, the robe is still in the armour slot but this time I can not do the usual left-click/drag or right-click/open options to the robe.

I can TRY to put on another robe, eg. robe of cold resistance (RoCR), by left clicking and dragging it from inventory to the armour slot but it is unsuccessful, i.e. RoFR will still be worn and RoCR will reappear in inventory. Worse, after this manoeuvre I cannot do anything to the two robes, neither left-click/drag nor right-click/open options.

I CANNOT sell to merchants by left-clicking on RoFR and dragging to their shop inventory. The RoFR seems stuck in the armour slot and again, after the attempt, I can neither left-click nor right-click on the RoFR.

I CAN sell to merchants by right-clicking on RoFR and choose sell option. I manage to get rid of the RoFR this way but my problem is not solved. My PC is semi-nude and resists all my attempts to put other robes/armour on. When I try to put on RoCR or any other clothes, again the faded image appear in the inventory and armour but the figure is not clothed. Closing the inventory and opening it again results in another frozen RoCR in the inventory - I can neither left-click nor right-click on it.

There is another thing I could do with the RoFR. I can open inventory, right-click on RoFR and get my character to disrobe and drop item on ground. After that it's the same thing. I cannot get the character to put on anything else!

I really wanted my character to wear the new battle mage's robe but looks like the only option I have is to either stick to the RoFR or run around half naked (actually more than half).

By the way, I have not patched my game. I went to the NWN website and read the list of errors addressed by the patch but it doesn't mention the problem I have.

Has anyone encountered this problem before? More importantly, does anyone know how to overcome this?

I got so frustrated over the weekend I abandoned the character and started a brand new male rogue/cleric.

Install the patch and try again. You don't have any sane reason not to install it. A lot of minor things that get fixed aren't mentioned in patch descriptions. Always play with the latest patch installed.

[IMG] I noticed this problem when I accidentally tried to equip a ring right on top of a ring I was wearing. Both rings were impossible to examine or move after that. I had just saved so I went back to the save and played on from there.

I had/have the latest patch installed.

[IMG] Thanks for the suggestions, guys.

I access the internet from the office ( :heh: don't tell my boss!) but where I play at home, I have difficulty accessing the internet. I looked at the Bioware patch and the file for manual updates is huge. Looks like I have no choice but to find a way to patch my game if I wish to continue with that character.

Earl, can you tell me whether you were able to change your rings after you reload? Am I correct to assume you had the patch installed when this happened? Thanks again for any help you can offer.

[IMG] I also had the same problem while changing robes. As I put one over the other, I had the same effect you are describing. As Earl did, I just reloaded and everything was fine thereafter. I am now careful to remove any piece of equipment before donning a new one, just in case!

And yes, I did have the patch installed.

[IMG] I reloaded several times and it seemed like the bug was still there as more and more of my equipment "turned ghostly". The way I solved it was to reload and then walk to Aribeth and to sell the ring I had equipped as well as all the other stuff I wanted to sell. After that I could equip the other ring with no problem.
Perhaps all it took was to "do some other actions" and the bug goes away. Very strange.

[IMG] Aaaarrrgghh!!!! I managed to patch my game last night and the problem still persists. I cannot change my robe at all. It's either the robe or go around in skimpy underclothes.

Looks like I have to start all over again! What a waste of time.

[IMG] It's a new game and you will encounter bugs, so make sure you save often and try not to overwrite old saves.

Anyone noticed that each save is about 15MB in size!

[IMG] I hate clutter in my save files and that's why after finishing Chapter 1, I thought I would start on a clean slate and deleted all files except one. And now that can't be used. Grrrr....

And now that I know the save files take up so many MBs, all the more reason I don't want to keep too many save files. Space is a premium on my hard disk. But there is a lesson to be learned from this. Thanks, Earl.

No, I didn't enter this thread just because there's mention of nudity in the topic. :p

[IMG] Does anyone know if these bugs are being taken care of? Has there been any response from Bioware/Infogrames/whatever that they have noticed these fairly serious bugs? I tend to stick to a single savegame, and I REALLY  would get annoyed if it got corrupted. Until it's fixed I'm making lots of backup savegames, and I hate it!

I don't run around naked that much anymore!

Only for you, Shralp, when you want to go to the beach for some naked pugilistic fun. Otherwise, I just dress all trampy. Nudity is special.

Don't think Bioware is gonna release another patch. I guess they'll be too busy making NWN 2. However did you tried to manually delete the robe from your inventory? there is a savegame editor named Leto - HotU - Kaliea. It is HotU compatible and although it is primarily for tweaking your character it also has an Advanced Editor. From there : Right click -> select open file -> select your save game folder, select the "Package Files" file type, select the .sav file (Ex XP1-Chapter 2.sav) and click Open.
Select the Module.IFO resource find "Mod_PlayerList" , select the entry [there will be only one Ex. Entry 161 (the number will be different)] , find Equip_ItemList or ItemList (depends where the faulty robe is, on you or in your inventory) and when you locate the robe's entry, it delete the entire entry. NOTE, at every entry there's a BaseItem sub-category. Use it to identify the robe (the code for armor is 16, should be the second in your Equip_ItemList). Finally save, select into Package file, select the same .sav file, select again Module.IFO and LOGICALY it should be ok. Just in case however MAKE A BACKUP of your savegame and ONLY EDIT THE BACKUP.
PS. Just to be on the safe side I opened the edited savegame again in normal mode and saved it again (the way the HowTo describes, open package, edit, save into list from file, select Module.ifo and then choose the name of your character
    (ex. (Nameless) Firstname Lastname ).
I tried it with my robe on me (thus deleted the Equip_ItemList 's 2nd sub-entry) and everything went well. The savegame was loaded and I were naked (Thus the robe was deleted and another robe could be equiped).

And you are wrong Keyper, Bioware is working on patch 1.64 (1.63 will be the platine game box) and it's not bioware who is making NWN 2, it's obsedian :p

Anyway the only times I've had a problem with my inventory and not being able to select something in it, all I did was save and reload from there, it worked for me everytime :) .

I meant save the game there and then then reload. Found that out after accidently saving over the quicksave and having to reload from it.
I'm not the only person thats ever done that before anyone laughs :p
