There are three parts to Amaunator's symbol (I assume that this is what you're talking about). The three sections are obtained in the following ways:
    • Getting the order of the morning, noon and evening rituals correct gives you one piece.
    • Returning Amauna's bones to their proper resting piece south of the lava room gives you another piece (and the Shadow Dragon wardstone).
    • The third part can be found in the shade's cell to the north of the tile room (the place where you have to step on tiles spelling out a certain name).
When you have all three parts, the holy symbol will assemble itself. You need this symbol to get into the Shadow Dragon's lair.

I once encountered a bug where I didn't get the second piece when I returned Amauna's bones to their resting place. I needed to return to a previous savegame.

There are only two sun gems to be found and these open the first and third barriers. You walk around the second barrier through the lava pit.

Yeah. And do not forget that there are "3" shadow doors that would require lightgems, but only "2" need to be opened (and you will have only two lightgems anyway). The shadow door of the middle (I think it's the one of the middle but I don't really remember wich one, sorry) don't need to be opened as you can walk around it by the place of lava as said above by Chris Williams. Just follow the steps as he said and everything should be fine!
    Good luck!

EDIT: Argh!!! I hadn't read the post of Chis Williams until the end. I just said everything he did before. Dumb I am.

[IMG] Thank you both for the feedback.
Now i know how to venture forth. Time to get back into the game and see what's hiding behind the next door!

edit: the missing piece was at the shades cell
