What character were you playing the time you had the most fun on a solo journey through Baldur's Gate 2?

I've been testing the waters with a few different characters, but have yet to find one that really clicks for me. I'd love to hear your stories and get some inspiration!

    TIA!

F/M/T, surprisingly enough. Well, surprising to me, anyway. My first solo run through BG2 (first run PERIOD, actually) was with my uber-killer from BG1, a level 10 thief dualled to a fighter. But it got so utterly boring/infuriating in BG2. Every fight was either ridiculously easy or ridiculously hard, depending mostly on the special abilities of the enemies. The one thing it did impress upon me was the usefulness of Greater Deathblow against Beholders and Mind Flayers. ;)

But my F/M/T was great. Corsana was carving her way through absolutely everything, whether with a sword or with magic. Incredible.

I have solo'ed the game 3 times (finishing the game).
My first solo game was with a plain fighter, playing through the entire BG saga (BG1+TotSC,BG2 SoA+ToB).

Then I installed some mods for the first time and solo'ed again BG2 with the same fighter (imported from BG1). Here is his "story" . And this was the solo-game I enjoyed the most.

My third solo was with a Priest of Lathander again with some mods.I enjoyed a lot this one too.

I have started some other solo games too but never finished them. One with a Kensai-Thief dualled at level 25 (I know it sounds crazy :D ) and one with a Berserker-Mage (13-28).I gave up both of them in the Underdark, mainly because they were too overpowered.

I would suggest to solo the game with your favourite class-character.The ''worst'' thing that can happen in a solo game is to get boring, so do it with a character you enjoy playing with.
If you find the game too easy try on insane or with some of the ''hard'' mods installed. At least for me, they added a lot of replayability in the game.

Mage/Cleric, SK'd to Wild Mage kit...

DUALCLASSED! (yep, that's right...) at lvl 34 and 8 million XP (again, yep...that's right!)

That was my single most fun solo, where I had all those battle mod things installed and I absolutely RIPPED through the game. However the final battle of Ascension is put on hold because of Oblivion but...I fully intend to pick it up again once I get tired of Oblivion.

I'm hoping to do a solo though all bg (1-2-tob) with BGTUTU, but honestly, I find the game boring. In BG, you struggle with trying to enjoy a character that can't do much at all because of a low level, and in BG II, at least for me, you get bored because you know *every single* quest and how to solve it.
Right now, I'm going at it with a multiclass swashbuckler/mage, but I'm getting slaughtered by gibberlings because I can't hit anything and I have a puny 7 hp.

I soloed a Blade through TotSC and SoA but not ToB, it ended up by being way too boring (at level 15 you get very effective spells and Offensive Spin is great even with ranged attacks).
I had fun with a Swashbuckler dualled into Fighter, it was too much hack and slash but effective.
The Wizard Slayer dualled into Thief was a lot of fun too with UAI.
I tried to solo a Half Orc Assassin but I never finished that one, it was great nevertheless.
And there was this Swashbuckler/Cleric with traps and Detect Illusions maxed out who would turn vampires into oblivion.
Soloing gets boring after a while, if you know what you're doing your character is going to be very powerful very quickly, he/she gets all the stuff and money to buy the best items plus the logic of the game makes it quite clear that any high level character is going to be more powerful than a party of lower levels characters.

EDIT: I forgot about the Thief/Wild Mage MC (with SK) that was an awesome solo but I only played it through BG tutu -too much power, no more fun.

I think the Kensai/Thief was the most fun. Backstabbing with the Staff of Ramm +6 for 130 damage on average just made my day, every time.

F/M/T is awesome, I started one a while ago, and have gotten to Chapter 3 or so, It was a very playable solo, but not so easy that you didn't have to be careful. Suprisingly, the only things I cheated out were BOH, gem case, scroll case, and boots of speed. I never play without boots of speed.

A F/T with the "Use any Item" ability is nice, though you'll probably have to tinker with him, or have played with him one time, then export and start again to get him to a level at wich he can get that ability.

He costs a load on scrolls, and i'll admit it's not allways much fun having to switch things in your quick slots all the time, but it does make for an interesting experience, to say the least. wands and scrolls can never replace a mage, but having limited spell resources is kind of fun. Also, get the time stop trap as soon as you can, this one can be a great help if you know how to use it.

FMT. It made me love the class combo; the way you have to utilise the combination of your abilities to overcome the odds (especially as HPs suffer badly in a triple class) really kept me gripped, even in battles I'd done a bajillion times before. Using Invisibility to drop multiple backstabs... or just stacking Stoneskin & Mirror Image and tanking... it was just fun to be able to do anything. And as I pathologically hoard items in these games, the rapid growth of thieving skills was awesome. I really don't think I could solo a non-thief class; not being able to pick locks or disarm traps at will (I'm not comfortable having to pre-memorise spells for this type of thing) would just kill the game for me, however easier it may or may not be to take down the enemies as a pure caster.

You could allways take a Pure fighter with high CON and strength, so he can just bash everything open, and suck up the possible damage from traps.
If you use him like that, i'd say it would be viable to use a F/C if you add a bit of WIS.
Also, i've noticed that the lvl1 magic stone spell could also be used to open chests and the like, and it seemed to work better then to just bash it open with your sword.
Maybe someone has experience with this kind of build and would share his experience with us ? :)

My favorite solo was a Barbarian dual at lvl 20 to a Cleric which with the right spells give you 100+ resistances to all physical damage and a decent Magic resistance with the right armor and weapons. But sadly I deleted BG by mistake and never bothered to attempt it again.

Kensai/Mage, dualed at lvl 14. Indeed alot of fun. A bit easy at times though. Perfect for power-gaming (which I guess soloing pretty much is). A good fighter, even late in the game, and a high-level mage. Knock for opening locks, then it's all combat. With the Robe of Vecna, Celestial Fury and the Crom Faeyr, you tend to get godlike (atleast I did). A wet dream come true, fun once, no more.
