NWVault has posted a hall of fame interview with Marc, price that author of popular modules entitled Midnight Calling, Midsummer Knights' Dream, and Midwinter Festival. Here's a snip:

    2. Could you please give newbies an overview of your series, going back to chapter 1 if necessary?

There are three major nations described in the series: The secluded Empire of Thyatis in the south, the Eastern Desert Emirates, and the northern Rankan Empire with a mixed Celtic/Viking heritage. In Midwinter Festival, the player character is thrust upon the world scene with an invitation to visit Thyatis during their most holy festival. Strangers are not normally allowed in the city at this time, and little is known about the festival itself. The invitation itself is quite mysterious, and it is not known who sent it. At first, the player may feel disoriented and a little lost, wondering what he or she is doing in such a big city, but before long the character becomes embroiled in an intrigue with far reaching consequences.
Midsummer Knights' Dream continues the story by introducing the player character to the Desert Emirates and the trade city of Yylarium. An NPC knight encountered in Thyatis becomes a close companion, with her own goals and motivations. The PC discovers that religion and politics in the Emirates are intertwined, and a lot is at stake, both in the heavens and in the realm of man.

Midnight Calling ties the previous storylines together, as a powerful artifact encountered in the initial module could become a major threat in the wrong hands. The story expands upon the characters in Yylarium. Various personalities and character motivations clash in pursuit of an item of ultimate power.
