Alright, I had the idea of making a half-orc wild mage to solo SOA/TOB but of course this isn't allowed within the game. My concept was a brawny half orc who is unusually born with a high intelligence and the desire to study the arcane. Of course, everyone laughs at the thought of a "stupid half-orc" trying to be a mage so Grock has to try learning on his own; the result is a wild mage with a chip on his shoulder. I imagine a hulking wild mage walking around doing his best to prove he can be as urbane and civilized as anyone and show he is as intelligent as anyone using his magic and the fun that would result when his magic goes awry frustrating his desire to prove himself.

So, I'm trying to think about how he should look and think I have it but I'm not sure about HP's. Given a half-orc can have 19 in Con how many HP's would a half-orc mage have? I'm thinking he should have 19 con to go with a nice dex, str, and 17 intel. Any help on the # of HP's is appreciated.

Pretty simple, he's a mage, so having a constitution above 16 shouldn't make a difference. Nonfighter (meaning everything but Fighters/Paladins/Barbarians/Rangers) characters get no hp bonus above 16con. Simply give him 16 con like you would give any mage. He should have the mage table for hitpoints, since well... he's a mage.

3rd Edition makes it all a whole lot easier :)

Ahh, thanks Faragon, I didn't realize there was no bonus above 16 for mages. I haven't been able to locate a HP table though in the back of my manuals. What I was doing was altering one of the pre-made characters to fit my needs and I did so and started with 38 HP's which seemed wrong. Maybe what I'll do is just make a half-orc in a kit I can make and then go and change him to a wild mage. Hopefully that'll work.

    Even easier:

Create a Wildmage with the stats you want your halforc to have. Make him, say human. Then, when you've got the character, use Shadowkeeper to change race into a Halforc, et voila, a halforc, with every aspect of a wildmage.

To really go with the Learning-On-His-Own type of mage...use this trick i found in SK.
It might be cheating but its fun.

    - Make a Human Sorcerer, with the Stats you want for your Half-Orc.
    - Open SK and Change it to Half-Orc, change colours and clothing and portrait etc.
    - Keep CLASS as Sorcerer, but change KIT to Wild Mage.
    - Save it.

When you load your game...Viola!! You have your Half-Orc Wild Sorcerer.

Yappie!, I've encountered a little problem with that... When leveling up to the 9th level, my WildSorcerer couldn't pick any spells. I don't know why it happened, but it did.

Hmm...did you remember to give yourself the Wild magic spells in SK?
Nahal's Reckless Dweomer, Spell Shield and Improved Spell Shield?

I think the game checks for them? It never happend to me..it could be a bug, but using SK is at your own risk so something is bound to go wrong if u use it.

maybe you just don't get any spells that level, (youre a Mage as well remember)

    Maybe its just you

    I doubt it's me. :nono:

Anyway, I decided I liked WildMages better than WildSorcerers, so it doesn't really matter.

Sounds like a pretty cool character. It'd be fun running around looking dumb and accidentaly blowing things up.

Z-layrex: I'm assuming you meant in the game? since i'm not sure it would be too fun in reality because you'd be a danger to yourself and being turned into a cow must suck.

/me pictures z-layrex running around looking dumb (not hard hehe) and accidentally blowing things up. Hmm it suits you Z
